Fanfiction Abreviations – Must know terms

Ficlet = short fanfiction
Fic = abbreviation for fiction
Fanfic = a fan’s story based on the original book or movie storyline and or characters
Songfic = fanfiction centered around a particular song
Crossover = two stories combined, eg Harry Potter characters with Lord of the Rings characters, setting or plot
AU = Alternate Universe story, eg what would happen if one character was evil
Spoiler(s) = Information that will ruin a particular story if not read or watched already
Time Travel or Time Turner fic = by same use of time turner or spell, characters go forward or back in time
R & R = read and review (comment)
Flame = an angry or hurtful review
Revamped = generally relates to a re-written story (unless vampires are involved)
Fanart = drawings based on the original story or on someone’s fanfiction

Fanfiction Relationship Terms

Ship = Fanfiction story based on a relationship/ romance with specific pairing, eg Buffy and Angel
Shipper = Someone who likes stories by a particular ship (relationship
Het = male and female romance
Slash = same gender romance
Femslash = female, same gender romance
Friendship fic = is simply based on friendship and not romance

B/A = Buffy and Angel romance
Spuffy = Spike and Buffy romance
Wiffy = Willow and Buffy romance

HP = Harry Potter
COS = Chamber of Secrets
POA = Prisoner of Azkaban
GOF = Goblet Of Fire
OOTP = Order of The Pheonix
HBP = Half Blood Prince
MWPP = Moony Wormtail Padfoot and Prongs
Marauders = same as MWPP
