how are you doing with all those fires, is it real smoky at you home? I sure hope you are not in any danger!! just how close is it to you all?
take care
Hi Myroost, I was going to do another post called "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes, Chapter 2"...we are still surrounded by fires and the only ones they ever put on TV are the Big Sur fires. There are fires in the next county up - 100 fires - in Mendocino County. that's only one hour north of us. Then in Clearlake, another one hour away but northeast, there are more fires. And in Napa - east of us - there are more fires. Of course you know the ones south of us. The only way to go is west and that's the ocean ;~) For the past week (the holiday week), we had clear skies because we had ocean breezes, but now we are back to an inversion with major heatwave once more. That will make the fires horrible again, plus our skies are terrible. I could feel my throat burning even with the air conditioner in the car on, yesterday afternoon. We have no a/c in the house, because normally we have great weather out here. Anyone who doubts global warming should come around to our area...more later. Thanks for the concern. I'll check out your new posts in just a bit...
Hi Myroost...I'm replying to this post, as I deleted the last three including your new post. I believe you about that post disappearing. There have been stranger things. I had something happen on here too. Once I posted a really negative photo of Bushie and a graduate of the Naval Academy with a written post. The photos disappeared and red x's appeared. Then, the next day, the photos appeared again, but not with the post and by this time, I didn't need the photos anymore as I wound up deleting the post because it didn't make sense without the photos. Yep, censorship and they can do it. Isn't Mindsay now taken over by a new group of owners? More corporate? I remember when something was posted about the ownership...
I hadn't heard that about owner ship, but how can they censor so damn fast if that is what 's goin on, it was a neg. about some aspect of xthainty, so maybe, whats weird is that I copy every thing before I send it because on wireless, i never know when i am out of range and loose a signal, so havng lost stuff before , i now copy all stuff first such as this reply, so why that was lost, but not what i was commenting on, so weird, maybe its from the big man in the sky?
Shall I get two tix for you?

Are you getting them tonight? You know what? I just looked them up and we have a gift certificate for Ticketmaster for around $150. I should ask if I can get them for you. Are you doing it online? It would be kind of fun to sit together and meet face to face! Let me ask my spouse if he wants to go...we are in negotiations right now with the university. He went back 4 days a week a couple of months ago, in addition to his retirement. And now they are asking him to come out of retirement and we have lots to talk about, cause we are just not sure if money is worth it. How expensive a seat are you looking for?
I was thinking of going over in person some time this week.
I don't know what's available, but I'd like to be close-ish to the stage.
I guess your spousal unit has made himself indispensable to the Big U! He probably is in an advantageous position for negotiating the terms.
Let me know what you decide.
Go to google images and look her up. In pictures from a couple of years ago, she looks like herself, if a bit grandmotherly. Now she looks very feline. I guess even old folkies are susceptible to societal pressures to appear a certain way.

Yahoo, Perrye. Went to the website and it looks like a great organization. What is your position? And will you commute to S.F. then? Where's Natoma Street? Congratulations...when do you begin?
I started two fridays ago, two days after they interviewed me.
Commuting - yes. I haven't done it for 7 years and bus routes and the length of the commute have changed - long days.
I need to move anyway and am looking in the neighborhood. Natoma is the second alley south of Mission. We are behind the Museum of Modern Art. Office manager.

What a great job! Hope it is as good as it sounds. And Wow, behind MOMA! Cool. Yes, you have been talking about relocating. And this is as good a time as ever to move into the city, if you decide to do that. I hear the rents are holding, though. Haven't dropped. On the other hand, if you decide to share a house with someone or several someones, there are fantastic Victorians, as you know. A friend's son lives somewhere near the Castro, and from what I hear, it is a fantastic neighborhood, with all kinds of trees and things on the street. We used to live in the Haight, at the far end, under the freeway ;~)
I am so tempted - lotsa "interesting" people pass thru the grove....
If it helps you make a decision, I have known people who have worked there. They are treated really well, and tipped FANTASTICALLY. Yes, some horrible people come through, but don't forget that folks like Mikey Hart and others go through there too. Yeah, just for the hell of it, it could be fun. Oh yes, and all the folks I know who have worked there have been very liberal politically.
Yes, well, I think we really need to know who our opposites are. Quite possibly some of them are really nice people, in person, though I just can't believe that Cheney could be a nice person. Let me know what you have decided. I think you could have fun, though it's a pretty long drive. Would you stay around here during that time or commute each day? It's around 1/2 hour from me. And you are already around 3/4 of an hour from me? Also, be aware, every year there are usually picketers there, though the woman who has done it for years is tired of it. She's around 65 or older. Mary - she has a shop here in town.
