I am Dave-O, the Math Man.
I enjoy math, math, and math.
Actually, okay. XD I don't like all math. I only really like Differential Equations and Matrix Algebra. I have this uncanny ability to FAIL at math when I go through it at school, then somehow master it when I'm done with the class. Okay, not fail. Here's what I've taken and what I will take as an undergraduate math major.
Calculus I - Differential Calculus: B
Calculus II - Integral Calculus, Honors: C
Calculus III - Series and Parametrics: A
Calculus IV - Multivariable Calculus: A
Introduction to Linear Algebra: B
Differential Equations I - First and Second Order: A
Numerical Analysis I - Solutions and Interpolation: A
Physics I - Mechanics: A
Physics II - Electricity and Magnetism: B
Thermodynamics I - Thermodynamic Relations: A
Thermodynamics II - Cycles and Gas: B
Engineering Mechanics I - Statics: C
Engineering Mechanics II - Dynamics: A
Mechanics of Materials: C
Fluid Mechanics: C
Heat Transfer: B
Coming up--
Foundations of Math I - Logic and Structure
Differential Equations II - Systems and Series
Introduction to Partial Differential Equations
Advanced Calculus I - Differentiation and Optimization
Advanced Calculus II - Integration and Convergence
Physics III - Waves, Optics, and Nuclear Physics

I post the above because I don't hide myself at all, and you should see what I've done before I go around saying I'm a math man.
As you can tell, immediately, I don't look too impressive. My GPA in science is a perfect 3.00, and my GPA for math is a 3.43. However...
I am in the process of rewriting sediment transport. We use empirical methods to get random formulas for something we don't understand. I'm MAKING us understand it using manifold calculus. I'malso rewriting methods on interpolation (hyperbolic interpolation--hyperbolic as in the conic hyperbole, not some geometric property of space) and solving linear systems numerically.
I write up mathematical theories for nonsense a lot, or at least I used to (though, I'm doing that more now that I'm myself again and am able to), and I teach math here and there (lawl @ mindsay project). My biggest accomplishment, I think, is that I have a nice ability to get people to understand what are otherwise very difficult topics rather simply, since all my students always succeed when they, really, were about hopeless before. XD
Anywho, my biggest interests are in differential equations and matrix algebra, as I've mentioned. I have no interest in complex analysis (what is considered the MOST AWESOME EVER AND U SUKKK IF U DUN LIEK IT topic for undergrad math peoples), nor in abstract spaces or geometries.
And I'm arrogant, but for all the right reasons!
