But here's a poem I worte the other day:

My Insecurities (Jan. 10, 2006; 10:10am EST)

There are so many insecurities

that I have, and will,

encounter in my life.

So many questions

fill my mind

with no answers in sight.

They challenge me

and I start to doubt myself.

But then I remember

all the people who believe in me,

and most importantly,

I believe in myself.

And I know

that with God's help,

I can accomplish anything

and overcome these insecurities.

Re: Sqrlprncess2005... Wiki Page
Hey there!  shiny informed me that you lived in Bethesda, MD for a summer.  I'm just trying to get an idea of what it's like there.  If the purpose of being there wasn't to commute to D.C., is it worth it?  What's your estimated cost of living there?  Is it a fun place or just somewhere close to D.C.?

Thanks!!

Re: Sqrlprncess2005... Wiki Page
I lived in Bethesda for two months. Two very busy months. But I loved Bethesda. There was so many things that I wanted to explore while I was there, but didn't have the chance to do so. Whether or not you commute to D.C. doesn't really factor into the worth of living there. I think it is worth it. At least it was for me. For a while. Eventually, however, my internship was over and I came back home.

As far as the cost of living goes, it is higher than what I'm used to, afterall, I'm a born and raised country girl from the sticks where everything seems so much cheaper than Bethesda. But you have to reemmber that Bethesda is on the outskirts of D.C. one of the largest cities in the US, and the world, so of course everything is going to be more expensive. Now while I was there I lived in an apartment in the Palisades of Bethesda, but I can't really tell you much about the cost of that for three reasons: 1. I had 3 other roommates, 2. I was in D.C. through The Washington Center internship program--they found our housing for us and paid for it through our fees to them, and 3. I was there for such a short time.

Bethesda is not just someplace close to D.C. It's a lot more than that. There plenty of places to shop, just no malls; places to eat; there are some artsy things like art exhibits, live music, and in the summer community movies; there are several clubs that are always busy on Friday and Saturday nights; and even though everything is pretty much within walking distance of where I stayed, there is a trolly that runs on a pretty regular schedule in a figure 8 pattern through the town to get you wherever you want to go.

My biggest piece of advice, well, 2 pieces of advice:

1. Never walk anywhere alone at night if you can help it (and that may just be the paranoid part of me speaking)

and

2. Make sure you know the times of operation for both the Bethesda 8 trolly and the Metro.

Other than that, I'm not sure what else I can tell you, but if you have any questions, I'll try my best to answer them.

Take care!
