Re: Rancettela's Wiki Page
Really strange! I must have worn "trousers" in Paris. I probably have photographic evidence somewhere. Maybe they'll arrest me next time or maybe just maybe I'll wear dresses the whole time!!  At this point, it doesn't look like I'm going anytime soon. I'm saving every penny, tho!

Alright, about the hamsters. I do not really get why anyone would want to live like one. THEREFORE-I have to agree. The French are crazy! Tres fou!!!

Re: Rancettela's Wiki Page
I personally like dresses on a woman anyway, so I am fine with this ordinance!
rancettela on
Re: Rancettela's Wiki Page
Oh man, that's pretty sexist!! You want to know about dresses? TWO WORDS FOR YOU: Cold legs.
Andreux on
Re: Rancettela's Wiki Page
Don't they have pantyhose for that though? I promise it is not meant to be sexist in any way =( I just think that it looks so lovely on a woman. They should love wearing dresses! If I was a woman, I would wear dresses all the time, but I am a man, and I love wearing nice things for guys too =)

Re: Rancettela's Wiki Page
Well, all I remember is when I was in the fourth grade and they made us wear dresses and it was cold! Now I hardly wear dresses unless I have to, and Thursday (tomorrow) is going to be one of those days. Yay.

Over two months since I left a response on here! Well, here we go: New fair targets France's 260,000 annual divorces

Re: Rancettela's Wiki Page
Ah, ze French! Their divorce rate seems to be a little lower, but it seems to be rising. Catching up to the Americans, eh?

Yay I love Hitch.

Re: Rancettela's Wiki Page
so far only seen half of it, but my goodness, this is a fast paced film! Definitely keeping my attention =)

Re: Rancettela's Wiki Page
yay my favorite scenes are the bourbon and United Nations sequences. BTW the end is good too but I won't spoil it for you.
Andreux on
Re: Rancettela's Wiki Page
Oh, the end was very suspenseful indeed! But I felt like the scenes leading up to Mt Rushmore dragged for me. Otherwise, everything before & including the crop duster scene were very exciting for me. I gave it three out of five stars on Netflix, and I just realised that I have another Hitch film coming to me today, YAY: Shadow Of A Doubt -- tu l'as deja vu?

Re: Rancettela's Wiki Page
It's my fav. along with Vertigo. Some people aren't as crazy about it tho, so You'll have to tell me what you think.

Re: Rancettela's Wiki Page
Actually, I put it on hold after all! I moved the second season of the television programme 30 Rock up to the top of my queue. Something to keep me busy over the weekend =) But I will definitely let you know about Shadow Of A Doubt!

Re: Rancettela's Wiki Page
Oui, bien sur! That is Lauren, one of my good Internet friends believe it or not. Back when we both had TCM (it was only like for four months sadly), we had some good synchronized viewings, believe me.
Andreux on
Re: Rancettela's Wiki Page
no way!! You are friends with her? She must be semi-famous 'cause she actually showed up in one of my StumbleUpon discoveries =) Someone else must read her blog!

Synchronised viewings though? Did y'all discuss the events of a film at the same time?
rancettela on
Re: Rancettela's Wiki Page
Yes & no. We sort of did after. But we both had seen Cluny Brown before and we watched it together on Christmas Eve. I think she talked me into seeing Shop Around the Corner as well!! If you look on the right she has me on the blogroll (Cinema Becomes Her). It was either her or someone else who started the 20 Actresses thing. Actually ok, it was someone else, but she followed suit as soon as I posted my list. We have Bette Davis and Isabelle Huppert in common and maybe a few other delicious ones.

Re: Rancettela's Wiki Page
It reminds me that I finally have a top 100 w/pictures too, but I have not posted it. I had to exclude Angele from my top 100, because I couldn't find a picture with the right size!! And what do you know, I just found a couple. Maybe I should post it. I'm jealous of Lauren's great librarian/list skills!!

Re: Rancettela's Wiki Page
She did do a pretty amazing job with hers =)

Re: Rancettela's Wiki Page
I'm not sure I could get it in different columns like that, but yeah. My problem isI like watching films more than writing reviews. I haven't blogged about a film in two months!!

Re: Rancettela's Wiki Page
It is okay. The thoughts are in your head, I bet! Also, I am seeing a top list here on this wiki page =) =)

Re: Rancettela's Wiki Page
Yes, I only posted the top 10, so it wouldn't take forever to load! I just posted my top 100 on mindsay. The favorites I have in common w/Lauren that I noticed: Fear of Fear & The Red Desert. I'm going to have to "blog" about this now on CinemaBecomesHer. I blogged about my 50 favorites before, but that was kinda different.

Re: Rancettela's Wiki Page

Yeah, that post will definitely have to grace Cinema Becomes Her's entries =)

Re: Rancettela's Wiki Page
I have been looking at Parisien apartments all day long. I found these two that would run my finances incredibly dry lol:

Rue Claude Bernard

Latin Quarter

I really would love to stay in the Latin Quarter near the Luxembourg Garden or the Sorbonne because that is the only area I really know well. The only bad thing about the first apartment is that it is located only slightly far away. I could definitely live with it for a week or two, but after a while it would get old! The only bad thing about the second apartment is that it does not have a washer. I would need a washer, I do not want to visit a laundromat, and I am perfectly fine with air-drying my clothes, I have done it plenty of times before!

The first one is also cheaper, but I like that the second one has a separate "room" for the bedroom. Plus, the second one has more of a shower than the first, but I could live with bathing in a tub everyday, I guess =)

Re: Rancettela's Wiki Page
Parisstay is great but their rental fees and deposits are outlandish. Are u thinking of going?
Andreux on
Re: Rancettela's Wiki Page
I am a lot more lately. Can you explain to me the agency fees though? I think those confuse me the most.
rancettela on
Re: Rancettela's Wiki Page
Yeah, I'm trying to work out going. I planned for a week in November and filled it up with stuff to do, but I definitely can't afford it now and am ticked. I figured I could get a loan from the bank, like I did in 2001 (pre-9/11) when I went to London. But this is NOT 2001!! There are NO personal loans. Apparently the credit unions may issue loans. But if it's not refinancing mortgages, autos, or going to school, the loans have 12-16% interest!! There's no way. I might as well charge it to a credit card and I'm not going to be paying it off for awhile. So I may wait till 2010 and go for two weeks. I'm so ticked off cuz I wanted to go now. Oh yeah....the agency fees. Sorry!

On the parisstay.com one, it lists: 150€ + 14% of total rent. If you add an extra 150 Euros and 14% to the price, it's not so reasonable, is it??? Plus they make you pay a heft deposit (on the page it says up to 2000 Euros). I mean, who has that kind of money. The deposit on the apt. I was looking at was 800 Euros. But still. SOME people reported difficulty getting their deposit back, but mostly that was due to them paying it to the wrong person (the cleaning lady for instance). But each apt. differs. Some require you to pay the deposit to the agency. Some require you to pay it to the owners. If you goof and pay it to the wrong person (who won't give it back) what are you going to do, be out that much money??? YUCKY.   The agency fees should really be paid by the person who is making the money off the rental of the apt. (the owner). I mean, why do they list one price and then ask for the deposit AND the agency fee, etc. etc. By the time you get done, it would be cheaper or at least less of a hassle to stay at a hotel. However, I've heard that the hip thing to do is to rent an apt. So maybe there are other places than parisstay.com. I was looking at it in depth too, but did not find great deals. Grrrrr.......  why can't it be simple to live in Paris??

Sorry for the rant. Yikes!!

Re: Rancettela's Wiki Page
holy cow, 12-16% is a crazy rate =)

But yeah, I am thinking about going there for a very extended stay!! If I do go, I will certainly lend you some lodging with me at no cost at all! =)

See, I think I am going to be lucky with this whole severance package thing coming to me soon. They are giving me a whole year's worth of pay in one lump sum, and I am seriously considering heading over to [possibly!!] start fresh or teach English or something. who knows.. But the 2000 euros you would get back at the end of the residency. Well, assuming you do not trash the place =) See, I thought the agency fee was a monthly payment that was NOT included in the base rent, but okay!! If it is a one-time deal, then I am cool with that =)

Oh, I am reading further now about how there are problems with getting the security deposit back. My bad!! That sounds like a really sticky situation though.

I agree with the difficulty in living in Paris! It is not that I want to be hip, it is that I want to be able to come & go as I please. Oh I dunno... plus, I want to cook real French food! There are no kitchens in hotels. & I want to entertain guests!

I am going to look into it more & see what I can budget. I really want to do this!

Re: Rancettela's Wiki Page
Oh I'd definitely pay my share. But right now I'm budgeting! Yay and grrrrrrr too.
