Thanks so much for the words of encouragement... I will be posting more soon.
I tried this once already, and Mindsay ate my comment...hopefully this works and you don't get a duplicate.
You helped my friend Kat a while back with trying to copy a DVD her daughter's dance school had given her. I used the programs you recommended to try something similar, but had all kinds of trouble...my burning software didn't work, so I downloaded a free trial of Nero. Then I didn't have the right kind of DVDs. I finally got some yesterday, and my free trials had all expired. Now I'm back to square one...I attempted to find similar programs to handle the same tasks, but it's not working. I was wondering if you could recommend a good program to buy that can do the shrinking, copying and burning. My second DVD drive is on the fritz, so right now I have to copy the contents to my HD and then burn in a separate step. You seem like the most reasonable resident tech guy here, so I thought I'd ask you. Thanks for any advice you can offer!

I'm more than happy to help you. Let me put something together for you here in the next few hours.
One note, the trend now is for players to handle the divx format, aka: avi. This allows a full movie size of around 750 MB's.

Thank you! I have copies of DVD43, DVD Shrink 3.2 and also ImgBurn installed just so you know what I've tried. The combination of AnyDVD and DVD Shrink worked the first time I tried this (when all I had were the DVD-R disks). My trials of AnyDVD and Nero had expired, so I found DVD43 to try instead. Then DVD Shrink would no longer complete the copy successfully. I don't know if that is the disk or DVD43 or DVD Shrink causing the problem. I know there are a lot of crappy freeware and shareware programs floating around out there, which makes me think I should just buy something so I know it's reliable and tested.
I'm going to set you up with the most recent versions of Nero, Dvd Shrink and AnyDvd manana... getting too late tonight.

Companies suckering good-intentioned parents out of their hard earned bucks... damn them I say.
I put my two-cents in. Thanks for alerting me to the opportunity to help someone out.

I probably have some thoughts, but it's a broad generalization. Do you want to fill me in with details for this motivation?
I am 110% behind that idea. However, I would be willing to put much more effort into the whole thing if I could see just one iota of willingness on Adams part to augment the forums with just one or two simple changes. If I can't get that out of him after all this time and all the requests, fuck it, he just doesn't give a shit about the efforts made by volunteers here and needs to show he's listening with some ACTION or find new people.
Been there, done that. I send Adam a complete package with all the files and instructions long ago and never heard a squeak out of him. Mike, he just doesn't give a rat's ass about raising the quality of the forums or making the simple efforts to learn he no-brainer tasks involved that would show some active interest and respect for the volunteers. A richer user-experience would make for some interest.
The request I got when I posted the Word Search request for clues on "boar-gah-rig-ah-me" was if it could be placed in context of use in a sentence. I am relaying that request to you. Do you know how the word is used?
