Hi, I found your page while researching study abroad programs to Japan...I want to study abroad there more than anything else, and it's a perfect time in my life to do it, (right between undergrad and pharmacy school) but I really have not a clue where to begin.  Unfortunately, my university doesn't have any exchange programs, and I don't really know where to go from there.  Did you do a program through your college, or a separate exchange program entirely?  Any help or advice you could give me on getting started would be immensely appreciated! 

I went through my school. Temple University is the only foreign university to have a campus in Japan that is recognized by the Japanese government, so if you're headed that way, you will enjoy a number of advantages because of that. Most school offer an exchange program, and all major universities will give you credit toward your home institution. I recommend going through a school, as simply getting an apartment in a foreign country and just trying to live will drive your prices up. It may also limit the length of your stay, as you will not be able to obtain a student visa (something you can only do through Temple in Japan). Just figure out where you want to go, then do a google search for universities that offer programs in that country and start reading up until you find one that seems right for you.
