I am from Denver, Colorado-USA and 26 years old.I believe in having an open mind and open ears when it comes to music appreciation, interpretation, and song creation. For this reason I have long since hated the system, (or is it?) by which we attempt to put music into "Genres". Furthermore, my intrigue in less "conventional" harmonies and song structures, is often not taken as well by the majority of others.....at least not at first. My work has been described as dissonant, out of time, polyrhythmic, a child messing around on the piano, and there are many more flavorful descriptions than that.Selected Compositions

I am curious as to the Jordanian response to U.S. Women. My daughter is planning to study abroad this fall. My question is exactly she should expect, avoid and prepare for culturally.
You help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

I'm the Managing Editor at The Collegiate magazine. We distribute to campuses across the country and have a web component. We are looking to do a study abroad feature in our next issue. I cam across your blog and would be interested in talking to you more about this. Could you email me at maureen.manowske@gocollegiate.com
Thanks!

I'm a graduate student at SIT and I also work for the SIT study abroad office. I've been reading your blog lately because you're on our home page and because I've been updating the pre-departure materials for future students and your blog is a great way for me to stay in touch with what students are doing while on their study abroad trips. We have a new program that will be taking place in Amman in the summer. I have never been to the middle east so I'm having some difficulty on advising students about certain information. If you have a chance to answer a few questions, I'd love to hear your opinion. Here are my tough stops: What would you tell students about what it's like to live in the desert in the summer, ie temperature and climate change during the day and at night, etc.?What kind of clothing should students bring? How much extra spending cash should students bring for personal use (just an 8 week summer program I believe)? What is life in a kibbutz like or what would you advise students about this experience? How much luggage to bring? Any other words of wisdom...
Thanks for any help and I hope you're having a positive experience. It sounds like an amazing opportunity and a great trip.
Sincerely,
Kim Karels
