I suppose you could say I liked homeschooling a lot, because it gave me so many more opportunities to do things (like take violin tours to places like Mexico and Florida in the middle of the school year). I do like school most of the time, but to me all the pressure is too much, and I think now that I've been to school I would do a lot better homeschooling. I now have more self-discipline and self-motivation than I did before (I hope) so I think I would be much more productive.
I hope this answers your questions....I think it really depends on the person if homeschooling is right for them, because I know many people who would not do well at all homeschooling. They need a teacher to tell them to do things, much as they might not like it, because they can't do it themselves at home. This is what started happening to me last year, and it's the main reason I started going to school.
I know for myself, I hated school from day one and I never wanted that to happenn to our daughter. I'm a teacher so it just made sense to me to homeschool. I remember in high school, all that time wasted goinf from class to class, and I remember the teachers talking to us like we were idiots - again, I dind't want our daughter going through that, which is why we made the decision to homeschool.
Again, thanks - and good luck!!
There are also others that aren't really that dumb, like "who teaches you, your mom or your dad?" Actually, neither...I basically taught myself, out of books, online, etc., and took a few classes.
Right now, of course I'm doing the whole job, but the thing I LOVE about the whole hom, eschooling process is it teaches you to teacxh yourself, and once she's older she can do it. Great practice for when she's all grown up too.
p.s. I added you as a friend so you can view my blog if you want.
No, that's great advise, and I'll try to remember it. When we started in September, I had a folder and I'd put her work for the day in it -- but I soon realized that she dind't always feel like doing math, or wasn't in the mood for phonics, so I started labaling the folders by subject, and she can pick which subject she wants to do. We do quizzes and Fridays, and we school between 9am - 12pm, other than that I'm as flexible as I can be.
