Several years ago when Brand and I worked in the same office, I found that I would be without my vehicle for several days. I went to someone I ~thought~ was a friend who lived nearby to ask if they could give me a ride for the week or so that I would be without personal transportation. They acted very odd, stating that it was a little bit out of their way to have to go into my neighborhood to pick me up. I tried to compromise by saying that I would have my wife drop me off at a gas station that was next to the freeway which they took to work, and they still acted as if it were a gigantic inconvenience to them. The funny thing was, this person was my boss, and I would have thought would be more concerned about helping one of their subordinates get to work on time. When we failed to reach a compromise quickly, I told them to forget about it, and went to Brand. Brand's route to work didn't take him near my house but he immediately agreed to go out of his way to pick me up each morning and return me to my front door after work, and he was actually enthusiastic about getting to help a friend.
If not for my attempt to get someone I thought was a friend to help, I probably wouldn't have given Brand's actions much thought, but in light of my overall experience, it threw the value of REAL friendship into sharp relief. Thanks for being such a good friend Brand!

I visited your blog once again, this time to ask you a brief question, but I read your entry about your father's passing. Again, I am terribly sorry, but I hope that you do not think it too insensitive if I ask here...?
Being the video game fan that you are, I was wondering if you knew of any reputable video game rental websites similar to Netflix. I performed a search, and I came up with Gamefly.com -- have you heard anything about this website? I figured that you might have some good insight since you are definitely in-the-know with this kind of entertainment =)

As far as game rentals go, I'm pretty much in the dark. Typically, I'll rent a game from my local video store. I know, how 1980's of me.
Unfortunately, most of the people around me do the same thing, so we don't really know how good Gamefly is. Wish I could be of more help.
