Re: Flyddw's Wiki Page
I find it rather funny that you come to mindsay at this moment in time. Why? Well, for starters I wasn't coming here nearly as much as I used to. Then your face reminds me of a friend who I have drifted from in the last year. I don't know... I guess I just find it interesting how the world plays out.

Re: Flyddw's Wiki Page
Thanks for the comments.  I've been around computer for a VERY long time, and I know all about the social network stuff.  I just am not interested it that sort of stuff - too old I guess.  But, after visiting here, it's more laid back and casual.  Talking with people on mindsay makes you want to open up more.  I still don't blog - don't think my mundane life is worth recording, but every now and then, I add something.

Here's to finding that drifter from your life.

Re: Flyddw's Wiki Page
Hey, Derek: You would not recognize Austin now. Well, maybe some of the old landmarks and hangouts are still around (The Continental Club, Dirty's, Threadgills, Town Lake, 6th st., The Drag, etc) but mostly, it is becoming too big too fast....I am praying it does not lose that small town, electic-people, friendly atomosphere to bustling commuters, high-rise, and road rage.

The music scene is still pretty good here, as are many of the arts, in spite of the fact the powers that be refuse to back them in any way but cashing in on the good works of so many of the towns artisans and eccentric, dreamy souls. Talk of a new and vibrant film community, but they have been talking for ten years, and so far, just a trickle compared with New Mexico, Louisiana, Utah, Vancouver...et al.

Never the less...there are still ample signs of the city being laid back, full of good restaurants and family friendly activities....I live way south, with my animals and my computer, so I am happy. If you get this way, give a shout out, and we'll have a lunch or something and solve all of the world's problems....

Hey Derek: Here's wishing you a happy fourth. In this country, we still have ho[pes, don't we. Feels good to feel proud once in a while, with Old Glory. Tonight, fireworks over town lake, here in Austin. Much music, much love and good hearts. Also going to catch the 4th concert from Boston.

I am sooooo impressed by your garden! sunflowers are ones that brighten the day...but you got some good salad stuff there. A litle cheese, a good, crisp salad, a nice glass of Merlot....ahhh, Life is sweet, then, isn't it?

Have a great one...thanks for greeting us all...we needed it.

Thanks for the comment.  Damn I miss Austin.  City enough.  Country enough.  But, boy do I miss the fireworks.

I used to go up to St. Ed and watch them from one of the buildings.  Do you have any writing about Austin Life recently?
