Wanted to let you know I had my first Uncle Pete dream last night. I imagine he had a lot of people to visit, but he finally made it my way.
I was in the back of a car, and he got in the front seat and was the driver. I was complaining about something to do with biology, and he was doing what he does best: educating. Then we started talking about life, and at that point I was shaking. He said, "Apparently, some people haven't even realized that I'm not gone..." and did his infamous knowing smile behind that mustache.
So I hugged him, but as most revelations in dreams go, I woke up before I learned any real truth; only enough to speculate.
I thought I would let you know that he is doing wonderfully. Oh, and he still likes films. He told me to watch Dr. Zhivago next.

vivid and incredible. thank you for letting me in on that. i've not seen him in a dream yet, but lately i'd been in his presence, if you know what i mean, and it was different than a passing thought i might have had of him a year ago, it was as though he were here, and i was shrugging it off as my own imagination. i, too, hadn't realized that he was not gone. wow.
and while this is probably coincidence, my new husband, Bruce, has been trying to get me to read Doctor Zhivago for years. there's a copy right here that he gave me, so i opened it just now and read the first page. It begins with a funeral.
i'll be seeing Bruce this afternoon. he lives in Barnardsville, about 30 miles into the hills from Asheville. maybe he'll want to go out and find the movie. there's no cable, cell phone, or internet where he is, but i will be back in Asheville by tomorrow afternoon. Bruce never met Uncle Pete, but when i told my brother that i was marrying Bruce (in 2006) he said, "This sounds like the first right turn you've ever made."
Bruce came with me to the funeral in february. that's the first time he met the tribe. we got to the viewing with 5 minutes to spare. during one of those minutes my father, having just met my husband, says to him, "I would like you to meet my son," and escorted him to the casket. Bruce had never been to a viewing before, he said jews don't really do that, so it was a little weird but (Bruce said) also touching.
Bruce is the only husband i've had that my brother wanted to meet. he was impressed by the lineage (Bruce is Larry Fine's great grand nephew --you know, of the 3 stooges). i told him that Bruce's mother wasn't all that impressed. he said, "what does she know? bring him up here, we'll give him a parade!" as it turned out, we let him ride in the procession. my cousin Geno arrived to put "Polish Pride" magnetic stickers on all our cars.
i need to head to barnardsville now, but i'll be back tomorrow. i would like to talk about the website, too, if you would.
thanks again for the dream. there's more there, i'll see where the dust settles.
