They say it's harder to do the second time around. I belive I am harder than it is. "Either you do or you don't. There is no try."

Investigation of a Modulated Electromagnetic Flow Sensor with DSP Techniques

In an ionic fluid flowing perpendicular to a magnetic field, the Hall Effect creates an electric field whose magnitude is proportional to drift velocity of the ions, and theoretically independent of factors such as conductivity of the fluid, temperature, charge of the ions, mass of the ions, and impurities. A sensor may be constructed from this effect that has all of these properties, and whose sensing properties depend on the geometry of the magnetic field and flow profile. Specifically, I constructed a sensor that modulates the Hall signal with an alternating magnetic field. Locking to the frequency and phase of the magnetic field using a DSP lock-in amplifier, phase and amplitude shifts have been measured over a range of field strengths and frequencies. Resulting waves have been decomposed into flow-dependent and independent Faraday effects as well as an orthogonal Hall Effect which may be used to measure flow rate. Analysis of Faraday and Hall Effects has been conducted with respect to strength and modulating frequency of the magnetic field rather than velocity of flow.

Reminder to the roommates:
