The Guiding Light has been a favorite of my family's since the "Radio Days".  As a small child, I can remember my Mother, Grandmother, Sisters and other family members engrossed in the daily "happenings" of the Bauer family.  Ed, Leslie, Grandpapa, Bert, Bill....Alan, Elizabeth, Hope...the list goes on and on.  Let's not forget Vincent Irrizary...that gorgeous young Italian stud who was the love of Beth's life.   God, those were the days....but it's amazing how the writers have been able to hold onto Josh and Reva and their relationship, with its spurious ups and downs, rolls and punches....but I guess they truly mean it when they say..."Always"!

It's a good show. How do they keep thinking up plots for 66 years? I think the first Guiding Light I saw was when Michael was a teen-ager and he had to break the news to his mom that his girlfriend was er, pregnant. About 1956, or so. Hot subject for those days. Then I didn't see the show again until the 1980's I liked all the characters immediately and the show doesn't go on one theme and one theme only or center around just one character's problems at a time. I really miss Danny. He was such a welcome addition to the show. I like Gus very much, I need Phillip back and a new Alan Michael. Have they forgotten that Alan Michael was married to Mariana's Mom at one time? That is a rather unrealistic plot, that one.
