Tim Burton

Tim Burton was born on the 25th of August, 1958, in Burbank, California, the son of Bill and Jean Burton. He has one brother named Daniel. He is a director and producer known for his dark movies and black humor.

He started out with the short films Vincent and Frankenweenie, and went on to make many films such as  The Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands, Big Fish, Beetlejuice, Sleepy Hollow, Ed Wood, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Corpse Bride, and his latest accomplishment, the film adaptation of the bloody musical Sweeney Todd. His film Alice in Wonderland will be released in 2010.

 Burton was trained as an animator and has made several stop-motion animated films. For The Nightmare Before Christmas he used clay figurines, but for the Corpse Bride he used what are known as animated dolls, they moved on cam and other systems. Corpse Bride is based on a Romanian folk tale. It is set in Victorian times.

Burton often collaborates with the actor Johnny Depp, they have made six films together since 1990. Depp will star in Alice in Wonderland, as will Burton's domestic partner, Helena Bonham Carter.
