The White Stripes is an American mucic group from Detroit, Michigan. Their music has been described as Garage Rock, Indie Rock, Rock-Blues, Blues-Punk, and College Rock. The two band members, Jack and Meg White, at first sold themselves as a brother and sister team until it was revealed that they were in fact a divorced couple. The 2001 album White Blood Cells rocketed them to stardom and is considered to be both a critical and financial sucess. The two albums that have followed White Blood Cells, Elephant and Get Behind Me Satan, were both named as best album of the year in such publications as Rolling Stone Magizine, and Spin Magizine.
