The Decemberists are an indie rock band from Portland, Oregon. They are often compared to fellow indie rockers, Neutral Milk Hotel. They began recording their self-released EP, "Five Songs," in 2001 . Then came the critically acclaimed full length debut, "Castaways and Cutouts." The Decemberists now have three full length albums, two EPs (including the 20 minute epic song, "The Tain") and one CD single. The official drink of The Decemberists is Orangina. On December 12, The Decemberists revealed to Pitchfork magazine that they would be changing record labels from Kill Rock Star Records to Capitol Records. Colin Meloy, The Decemberists' frontman, also anounced that his girlfriend was pregnant. Indie girls everywhere cried.
