A long ass fuckin' time ago there was a young lad named Jack who met an older dude named Kyle... Little did they realize that they would one day form a band the likes of which no one had ever seen. It was written in the stones that a band would come, and that band TENACIOUS D is here to come again... in your ear-pussies!

A fusion of rock opera storytelling and acoustic guitars that can best be described as folk metal, TENACIOUS D is truly the most unique and witty couple of musicians on Earth. In fact, their talent makes them hot enough to be do-able, providing proof that it don't matter if you're fat or skinny as long as you can truly ROCK!

According to legend, an ass mark on their butt cheeks signified that Kyle and Jack were destined to not only be best friends, but rock idols. But the glorious truth is the two men met while they were actors performing in the same comedy troupe, The Actor's Gang back in 1985. Their first impression of each other was not gold. Jack didn't get along with Kyle. Kyle felt threatened by Jack. Yet somehow a magic spell began to work its juice on them... "I met him as a young lad, and then I raised him from a pud," says Kyle in his own words. Just like in their movie Tenacious D in THE PICK OF DESTINY, Kyle trained Jack in the ancient mystical ways of ROCK. Soon after they were practicing their craft on a regular basis in Kyle's L.A. apartment.

The History of Tenacious D

Like many young bands, TENACIOUS D had problems deciding what to call themselves. Many a long night was spent in contemplation over several titles... Ah, if only it had been as easy as discovering the brand on their asses! They first thought they would sound most cool as "Pets or Meat" but that sunk. "Balboa's Biblical Theatre" also tickled their fancy, yet that was smite to the ground. Kyle's favorite name suggestion was "The Axe Lords Featuring Gorgazon’s Mischief" and yet this would prove to be a futile title as well. It would eventually be the D's fans that would name the band. In 1994 during their first live show at Al's Bar, after sports commentator Marv Albert talked about the tenacious defense of the NBA's New York Knicks, the audience quickly described the duo as having a TENACIOUS quality like the Knicks. This name stuck and has forever after been the title that crowns these two kings!

During that groundbreaking first show, the band caught the worship of David Cross, co-producer of HBO's cult hit Mr. Show. David quickly cast the duo for his show, but Jack and Kyle would soon have their own show simply titled: TENACIOUS D The Greatest Band on Earth. The show chronicled their humble rise to fame and power. It only took three two-part episodes for the band to realize that they should cut a few albums together... and with the success of their first album, they would take to the silver screen!
