QAF (USA) wrapped up its 5th Season in 2005.

QAF stands for Queer as Folk, a series that ran five seasons (83 episodes) on Showtime in the United States and Showcase in Canada. There were 2 versions, QAF (UK) which began in the United Kingdom in 1999, and QAF (USA) which aired in the United States from 2000 to 2005. The USA version of the show revolved around the life of gay men (and a few women) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, but was actually filmed mostly in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The show was hailed as groundbreaking and daring, and crossed many lines that hadn't yet been approached. It quickly drew an audience not only of gay and lesbian fans, but also many straight women.

Ironically, the show was criticized by some members of the GLBT community as an unrealistic portrayal of gay life, with its overuse of hard bodied Caucasian men as regulars and extras, its overabundance of drug use, casual sex, and infidelity, and its lack of realism.

The show's regular cast members included:

Gale Harold as Brian Kinney
Hal Sparks as Michael Novotny
Randy Harrison as Justin Taylor
Peter Paige as Emmett Honeycutt
Scott Lowell as Ted Schmidt
Thea Gill as Lindsay Peterson
Michelle Clunie as Melanie Marcus
Sharon Gless as Debbie Grassi Novotny
Jack Weatherall as Vic Grassi (Seasons 1-4)
Chris Potter as Dr. David Cameron (Season 1)
Dean Armstrong as Blake Wyzecki (Seasons 1, 4, and 5)
Robert Gant as Professor Ben Bruckner (Seasons 2-5)
Fabrizio Filippo as Ethan Gold (Seasons 2-3)
David Gianopoulos as Pittsburgh Police Chief Jim Stockwell (Season 3)
Harris Allen as James "Hunter" Montgomery (Seasons 3-5)
Sherry Miller as Jennifer Taylor
Makayla Smith as Daphne Chanders
Peter MacNeill as Detective Carl Horvath (Seasons 2-5)
Matt Battaglia as Drew Boyd (Seasons 4-5)

Re: Queer As Folk
Lets see here. What to say to the best show that I have ever seen? Just adding that Candians are the best in the world for anything in the performing arts! I have watched Degrassi, but it doesnt compare to anything in this great, crazy story. I am sorry to say though I am not old enough to buy any of the seasons on DVD, but I have put it down on my list-to-do's on my 18th birthday. Anyways I only got to see the last season, but what I did was went to the web site and read the info on every episode and the clip that goes with it. Took me forever but It was totally worth every minute of it. Hopefully one of you could send me a copy!

Re: Queer As Folk
A friend of mine ordered all five seasons from some internet site and we watched them all. I have only a few criticisms about the show. I don't think it portrays gay people in the best light. In particular, there were Aids positive people having sex with people who don't have it which I think is wrong. I certainly wouldn't encourage it! I also had a problem with the constant orgies going on as if it's normal for gay people to have orgies. I've never had one! Other than that, it was a great show. I actually looked forward to going to my friends house to watch it...

I've only seen a couple of episodes on show time. My cousins watch it all the time.

Re: Queer As Folk
If your cousins are on mindsay send them the way of this Wiki Page. Or not LOL. Which episodes did you see? Personally I think the show tanked after Season 1 and the people who still watched for the subsequent couple of seasons did so hoping that it would get back on track again. It fumbled a bit - but the way Season 5 ended was an atrocious way to end any series. The Producers lost their minds.

Re: Queer As Folk
The last episode I saw was about mike getting caught in an explosion in Brians bar.Or something like that. Then everytime there was a bag lieing around his mum would always get scared.
