This reminds me that I need to finish Mansfield Parl...not one of her more enaging works that's for sure.

She's one of my very favourite writers. I think most people today have no notion of how extraordinary she was for her time. I mean like in Pride and Prejudice she relates an episode of one of the sisters runing away with an officer and 'ruining herself'. Just think that in Victorian times, much closer to us, a pregnant woman was said to be 'in an interesting state'... she is tops.
