Re: What really makes Green Tea so beneficial?
GOOD NEWS to all HEALTH ENTHUSIASTS!!!

Fact always tells us that what makes green tea so beneficial are the CATECHINS especially EGCG (the most potent of all Polyphenols) for they are anti-microbial (fights bacteria), anti-mutagenic (prevents mutation/spread of bacteria) and anti-oxidant (helps reduce harmful chemicals in the body). Hence, the greater content of catechins the type of green tea beverage we drink the healthier.

What's so great this time is that I just found out from a friend in myspace.com that there is this guaranteed 40% Catechin green tea beverage manufactured by a German-Swiss-American company DKSH (Diethelm-Keller-SiberHegner - www.dksh.com) called RESENSA meaning Restore Life to the Senses (www.resensa.com).

To wit a few of its benenefits:

DELAYS AGING

According to epidemiologic studies, Japanese men and women who drink 5 - 10 cups of green tea daily are more likely to live longer. Experts believe that the powerful anti-oxidizing agents of green tea restrain aging.

BOOSTS THE IMMUNE SYSTEM

The high levels of polyphenols and flavenoids found in green tea have been shown to strengthen the immune system, which enables the body to both fight off illness and to quickly overcome existing ailments (e.g. fever, colds, dehydration etc.).

REFRESHES THE BODY

Green tea has a strong stimulating effect.  It has an advantage over coffee because green tea combines with catechin to produce a milder, more natural energizing effect. Hence, many sports enthusiast & prominent people are already using Resensa as their energy drink.

MANAGES PROPER BODY WEIGHT

Green tea also causes carbohydrates to be released slowly, preventing sharp increase in blood – insulin levels. This promotes the burning of fat. Swiss researchers even have preliminary evidence that green tea accelerates the burning of fat calories in people who are overweight.

HELP PREVENT CANCER

This is due to EGCG, which is a strong antioxidant that both inhibits the growth of cancerous cells and kills existing ones. In fact, what distinguishes EGCG from other compounds is that it seems to have a unique ability to fight cancer (breast, stomach, skin etc.) at all stages. In Germany, researchers believed that green tea enhances chemotherapy.

PROTECTS AGAINST HEART DISEASE & HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE

EGCG, the main antioxidant in green tea, helps lower blood pressure and prevent the formation of blood clots, which are a leading cause of heart disease, heart attacks, and strokes. It also lowers total cholesterol levels. In addition, the catechin in green tea impedes the action of angiotensin, a chemical in the blood, which is known to cause high blood pressure.

STRENGTHENS THE TEETH

More good news for those who have a sweet tooth to satisfy! Green tea is a natural source of fluoride, as well as has bacteria-destroying qualities that target dental plaque.

TREAT ARTHRITIS

Studies have shown that if you consume approximately four cups of green tea a day you may be able to protect yourself from developing arthritis, and if you already have arthritis, consuming green tea can help heal the inflammation it causes.

Re: Green Tea
Some how adding anything like sugar or even honey taints the delicate flavor. I think one of my favorite brands of green tea is Yamamotoyama. So far I can only find it in japanese or asian stores. I plan on ordering some online.

Anyone recommend a good brand or place online??
