Fairy Tales

Even though, sometimes, I do prefer the Grimm tales, I like my happily ever afters, too.

Cinderella is about a young lady who is forced to live with a wicked stepmother and two stepsisters. They make her do all the chores, while they prance around in expensive things. One day, the King throws a Ball for all people of the Kingdom, and Cinderella becomes excited. But the stepsisters tell her she cannot go. They leave her, depressed and alone. But some magic comes her way, and she happens upon the the ball anyways. She must be home by midnight, along with everything produced by the magic. But on her way out, she loses a shoe, and true love seeks her only by chance.

   There's many variations of this story, in many different countries. Of course, Disney has made it seem a one-night thing, with a fairy godmother. But there's a tale that it was a three-night Ball, and each night, she would find an item in the ashes of her fireplace.
