Born in Winston-Salem, NC, singer and pianist Ben Folds (born September 12, 1966) continues to awe audiences of all ages with his oftentimes humorous but always artistic musical pieces. In 1994, Folds started a band (Ben Folds Five) with bassist Robert Sledge and drummer Darren Jessee. Folds described his former band's music as being "punk rock for sissies." The trio toured and was well-known among their fans for their high energy concerts.
Aside from the BFF's albums, Folds has released four solo albums (Fear of Pop: Volume 1, Rockin' the Suburbs, and Ben Folds Live, Songs for Silverman). In 2003, he released two solo EPs (Speed Graphic and Sunny 16) and later released a third in 2004 (Super D).
Folds' songs also appear on major motion picture soundtracks, such as How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (Lonely Christmas Eve) and I am Sam (Golden Slumbers).
Folds got together with fellow Bens (Ben) Kweller and (Ben) Lee to travel as a band called The Bens, at the suggestion of a fan on Kweller's website.
He currently resides with his wife, Frally Hynes, and twins, Louis and Grace.
