I Wanna Be a Superhero

If you could have any supernatural power, what would it be and why? I have some difficulty with this. I over-analyze things at times, so I pull up the good and the bad. Given my pessimistic nature, I often find the downside of things that most would think are great. It is no secret that I am a HUGE fan of the show Heroes. I started wondering what it would be like if I had the abilities of the characters on that show.

Okay.

Peter Petrelli absorbs the abilities of others. No thanks. I can’t deal with being me half the time, so I am really not into trying to cope with other people’s freaky capacities.

Isaac Mendez sees and paints the future. While seeing the future could be advantageous, I have noticed that Isaac can rarely DO anything about what is coming. It would make me even more insane than I already am, to know for a fact that something is coming and being unable to do anything about it... actually...that is a problem I already have. I see things coming all the time and stand there helpless. It's nauseating.

Niki Sanders – a psycho alter-ego. I already have that. I haven’t found it beneficial as of yet.

D.L. Hawkins – walks thru walls. I do not feel inclined to be able to wander in to any room I want. There are too many things that I really don’t want to walk in on. I’ll pass on that. Besides, anywhere that I would want to get into or out of that is currently restricted is watched via video security feeds. So while walking thru walls can be handy, it doesn’t mean you won’t get busted for being somewhere you shouldn’t. But they would have a bugger of a time keeping you in jail.

Matt Parkman – hears people’s thoughts. I know people aren’t thrilled with me at times. I really don’t want to know EXACTLY how often they would like for me to bugger off. I also don’t really care too much about what other people think. It would be like being piped in to “reality” show that I hate and having to listen to it for the rest of my life. Besides, I have plenty noise in my own head. I don’t need to hear anyone else’s “voices”. Mine are apparently schitzo and that’s more than enough.

Claire Bennet- Indestructible. Not really a goal of mine physically...now if she were mentally unbreakable...

The Haitian – he controls people’s memories. He can basically turn your brain into an etch-a-sketch. I am not seeing a downside to that. I could groove with that ability. There are a number of people whose memories I would happily mess with and turn things to my favor. The Haitian has it made as far as I am concerned.

Hiro Nakamura – bends time and space. No downside to this one either, except for that part where you can deeply mess things up by killing a bug in 1992 and end up with a ripple effect that wipes out most of the eastern seaboard. On the other hand, we all have things we would change in our past. I would bounce back to 1988 and make some radically different choices that would make my life far less devastating.

In the end, I think I would go with the Haitian. While time travel is an interesting notion, I could fix a lot of my past errors by erasing the memories of the people who know of them and/or used them against me. No autopsy, no foul. There is also the beauty of getting the jackpot lottery numbers and stepping back in time to play...sure, it's cheating....but for 75 million dollars, I am willing to play unfair once. ...don't judge me...you'd do it too.

The Haitian's ability is the one for me though, no doubt about it. I think it is good to remember your own mistakes so that you can prevent repeating them. But it would be nice if you could erase all of your own screw-ups from other people’s minds.

Now, on the X-men tip, Storm’s powers rule. There are a number of people I would have sucked up into a tornado never to be heard from again. If Storm is not an option, then Mystique would be my choice. If you can become anyone, you can do anything. And there are a few sickos out there whose lives I would completely decimate. I am evil like that. It is thoughts like that which let me know exactly WHY the Powers That Be do not allow us such genetic blessings. But it's these thoughts that keep the imagination challenged...and the wishes keep on flowing....

Best & Worst of 2006
Figured I'd best blog this, as I said I would.

Firstly, here's the best:

Best Album: Black Holes and Revelations (Muse)
Best Gig: Muse
Best Film: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
Best Game: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii)

And the Worst, along with a small description, cos I never blogged them. For reasons why the best are the best, see LStv Episode VI.

Worst Album: Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not (Arctic Monkeys)

Aw, Arctic Monkeys. How can you disappoint me so? Last January, I actually thought you were good, and thought "Hey, we might have an Album of the Year on our hands, this early! Wow!!"

Then I kept listening to it. And..oh dear.

It's repetitive, to the point where even listening to it in small doses is nearly unbearable. Every single song sounds the same.

The Arctic Monkeys do have some talent, don't get me wrong, but if the second album sounds even remotely anywhere near this one, forget it. They'll have dropped down the toilet quicker than a lead shit.

And don't get me started on their Live Lounge cover of Love Machine. That just makes you want to rip your ears off and find solace in your newfound disability.

Worst Gig: Guns N' Roses

Don't get me wrong, when GN'R got on stage, this gig fucking rocked. It was the "getting on stage" bit that's earnt it the right of being called Worst Gig of 2006.

What made it even worse was that nobody did anything to ease the wait, unless you call scanning the arena for 40+ women to bear that saggy potato bag tits "easing the wait".

I, personally, disagree with that opinion.

Worst/Disappointing Film: X3: The Last Stand

I changed this one to "Disappointing", cos I've not watched a film, that was released this year, that I could call flat out shite. X3, however, fits this new title perfectly.

For a film based around the struggles of Phoenix and Jean Grey..where's the struggle? She goes a bit emo, kills a few people, and then gets killed herself. Struggle, much?

If there's an X-Men 4 somewhere down the line, please make it better than this one. I liked X-Men 2 :(

Worst/Disappointing Game: Sonic the Hedgehog (Xbox 360)

Another one which I changed to "Disappointing". I've always been a Sonic fan from my childhood, so there's no way on Earth that I could actually hate a Sonic game (Hell, I even liked Shadow the Hedgehog...)

However, Sonic on 360 is disappointing. Sega and Sonic Team promised a game that would reinvent the franchise, and correct all the wrongs they've made with the previous 3D games.

Did they? Did they fuck as like.

Lost opportunity.

And that's it, the best and worst of 2006. Tomorrow I'll be posting LStv Episodes VII and VIII, cos in my boredom I made another one today :P

Finally, before I go..Mena: Feel better baby. You win my Best Person in the World Ever....EVER! award. I love you so fucking much xxx xxx xxx xxx

Movie watching

Tonight I saw X-men 3 .. great movie .. nothing there...

But afterwards...

Afterwards I saw Requiem for a Dream

That shit is BRUTAL

Literatly made me sick to my stomach... Not the graphics though .. it was not the graphics that made me sick. It was the fates .. the fate of these people in this movie.. the combination of what they had to endure.. and what I could imagine they would endure in the future.

The mere thought that there might possible be lots and lots of such fates for real. People going through what the characters in this movie went through.

Requiem for a Dream moved me .. I feel like I should describe the content more in this post .. to clearify why it made me feel this way. But I simply cannot describe with words in such a way that it gratifies the way this movie made me feel.

Quote from the movie:

"I know it's pretty baby, but I didn't take it out for air."

woooo X-Men!
So I just got back from seeing X3 with my parents, Brian, and his friend Athena. I thought it was great. Its funny because I actually still haven't seen the second X-Men, (shhh, don't tell my parents. They think I did, but really I got stoned for the first time), but I've seen enough bits and pieces and heard enough about it that this one made sense to me, and as I said, I thought it was great. Deffinately a lot of fun for action/comic book movie/ X-Men fans, or at least the fans of the previous movies. I don't know what else to say because I don't want to give anything away. It has quite the load of juicy secrets in it. I will say this, you. If you haven't seen the movie yet or if you're planning on seeing it again, STAY THROUGH THE CREDITS! My dad heard a movie reviewer on a radio station say that, and I'm glad that he did. That's all that I'm going to say about that. :D later.
