Has anyone noticed my ability to begin each blog here with the obligatory "I haven't blogged here in a while..."? I usually feel like I have so much to say and complain about but lately, either so much is irritating me that it's getting lost in the shuffle or nothing is really bothering me. I can't decide.
One thing bothering me: the Boston Red Sox. Beyond the obvious, I have a friend who is teetering on the edge of becoming someone I don't want to talk to for the next few months because of her annoying penchant for being a pseudo-Red Sox fan for the remainder of October. Yes, I liked the Red Sox of 2003-2004 when they were top-loaded with fat guys with mullets like Kevin Millar, Todd Walker (pre-Cubs), Derek Lowe, Bill Mueller, Pedro and so on. Back then, pre-championship, they were so much fun to watch. Once they won it all, the polish wore off quickly as their fanbase went from also-rans to the most obnoxious group of sub-humans to walk the planet. Every time the Red Sox are in town, they arrive en masse to irritate and prove themselves the biggest jerks on the planet.
So yes, my former Red Sox fandom is dead in the water forever. The Boston faithful ruined it for me. They are the worst, Jerry. The worst. Worse than Yankees fans. Yes, I said it. Much worse. This from a group of morons who thought Aqua Teen Hunger Force Lite Brites were a plot from Al Queda. Idiots....
On that note, what is the deal with people who claim themselves to be "punk" and "indie rock" that are fans of the most mall-esque, corporate, whore-ish baseball franchises on Earth? For those who claim to hate all things corporate in terms of various forms of art can't get enough of the baseball teams that ESPN dedicates large blocks of programming to every week. Who needs to support a growing baseball franchise who developed their own talent (Rockies, Padres, Brewers, etc.) when you can flip on ESPN and watch "Cooking With Curt Schilling", "The Mike Lowell Power Hour" and "Talking Politics With Youk"? (As an aside, if you refer to yourself or anyone else as "indie" or "punk", you are a loser).
Enough of that tripe. So yeah,
Dexter is still kicking my weekly ass.
