You don't bring sand to the beach
I've been putting in work down at the trails working on getting everything back up and running. It appears as if nobody has laid hands on a shovel since my departure from civilization this past April. The only thing that has been done back there as far as I can tell is some landings have been blown out by sketchy kids, and all of the undergrowth has been cleared out. I don't know if this is going to make sense to anyone, but if I wanted to have trails out in the open I would've built some in a field. Part of what makes them so good is the feeling of cruising through the woods, and building the lines around things like trees, and with the contours of the land. Regardless I'm not turning my back on my favorite place in this town, and possibly even the entire state.

The picture below ended up making it into www.digbmx.com DIG bmx mag while I was away. Seamus has been clocking a good bit of coverage in the magazines as of late.

My main dude Rambo does not give no fucks, he hasn't pulled off any air humping lately, but I still love the lil' fella.

I love Texas Pete as well and this 18 wheeler was just too good to pass up.

Armed and dangerous
I can't even begin to comprehend the number of hours which I've spent in the woods with a shovel in my hands and a vision in my mind. Maybe it's the weed smoke haze I've been living in for the past 12 years, maybe it's the booze, maybe it's the hits to the head I've took. Another strong possibility is the fact that time flys by when you're having a good time. Rambo has obviously got a bit stir crazy since my departure this past April to take care of some legal issues which needed to be dealt with. I'm planning on making it up to him by spending as much time in the woods with him as possible, so he can chase any stray deer until he grows tired of that. Stick chewing should be near the productivity level that I'm hoping to achieve since I won't spend as much if not more time drinking and getting high as I do digging or riding.

I talked to a couple of my old friends since I've been out and they've been wondering why I've changed my ways. I could get away with it, but I'm tired of worrying about getting in anymore trouble than I already have thus far. Maybe I'm getting older and wiser? I sure hope not. Regardless I'm trying to be even more focused on the things that are important to me than I have been in the past. Not to say that I wasn't focused on them, but I wasted a good bit of time and energy and money on things that didn't produce any sort of positive result in the long run.

Live and learn, and live some more.

Keeping on...

New blog, new outlook, new lifestyle.  After spending the summer in jail I've come to the conclusion it's time for a change.  A major change.  I'm now sober as a judge (a sober judge that is).  No more weed induced fog clouding my thoughts.  It's nice for a change.  I'm working on quitting smoking cigarettes as well.

I'm also working on putting together a little magazine of sorts, minus the mega part. All pictures, no boring articles, and an art style layout that will look something like a 1st grade art project gone way wrong. Low key, low budget, and something good ot gaze at while going to the bathroom. What more can you ask for?

Dingle (leading) got a haircut, I'm still in disbelief on that fact, and Seamus has a fro like a black man.

Just a series of images of things I came across on my walk in the woods yesterday. I am always in awe of the beauty all around me. I preserved what moments I can. Enjoy.

A Few More Gretchens

As I pack and prepare to head to our cabin in the Ouachita mountains tomorrow with my daughter in law  (aka: omgwtf) and the grand sons, I look forward to seeing my good friend and neighbor "Gretchen".

Grethcen and I have been friends now for 20 years. I first met her when my husband and I were trail riding at Cedar Lake and my husbands horse threw a shoe and Gretchens husband Bruce was the local ferrier.

She had snow white colored hair and dragon lady fingernails. She was loud and straight forward...about everything and the funniest lady had ever met! Her personality drew me to her like a moth to a flame and soon we became close friends!

We bought a piece of property from them across the road from their cabin in the Ouachita forest and soon we were selling our home, building a cabin  and moving to the woods to become their neighbors! We spent 8 wonderful years there horse back riding , hiking , playing marbles and fishing before returning to "civilization" and we kept our cabin so we could always return.

I really miss my friend. She is the most unique person I have ever known. She is the most self confident , fearless woman I have ever seen! She never worries about anything...never has. She doesn't obsess about her weight, friendships, relationships or trying to be like anyone other than who she is. She speaks her mind and doesn't apologize for her short comings ( I don't think she knows she has any). She'll get in your face and tell you your an idiot but also is the first in line to help you when your in need. She's not religious or anti-religious. She just has her own thoughts and views and feels you have the right to your own as long as you don't push them off on her.

She lives in the mountains in a small cabin ,though if she chooses she could afford to live in the city. She changes cars like most change underwear and she loves animals and has a wonderful way with them. Children annoy her and so do stupid people. She doesn't know the word "can't" and has always felt "if you can dream it, you can make it happen'...just ask Bruce. She has dreamed up some pretty wild things and Bruce has always made them possible! And she's the only person I know who has never had a headache!

She is insanely creative, has fabulous tastes in decor and I am so absolutly ,  honored to call her my friend!

I look so forward to seeing her! The world could use  a few more Gretchens!
