This is the before shot...I took it last night.

This is what I found this morning and it's been snowing all day today.

There is a bush under there....trust me.

Yeah we are supposed to get one to two feet of snow. More's supposed to come this coming week.

Wind blew snow away from the front of the buildings, giving me a nice little trail to walk on. I guess that was God's way of telling me to stay on that trail.

That's what it looked like in front of me.

That's what the canal looked like, last time I was outside.

In fact, it was starting to freeze.

Snow's blowing in my face, I'm not winking.

God had the snow mix with the ice so it wasn't slippery.

Me again. I'm looking at the trees on the other side of the ditch...I could barely see them.

Actually, it's just one picture....I don't know why I said plural.

That's what our side yard and the side of the house looked like from the hill.

Lol, Rich, our maintenance guy, parked that trailer behind Grandma and Grandpa's camper...saying that Morgan, Mom's boss, wanted him to store it there. Rich said that it doesn't work but, he sure liked it. In fact, he found it on the side of the road. He's such a goon sometimes.

This picture looks like a wynter card

lol, me again.
As the snow gently falls on the wintry northeast, what better time for some more seasonal winter and holiday scenes. The winter storm watch is supposed to be over by around 7 am tomorrow and the snow continues to pile up outside. Maybe I can get a few new photo's to post later in the week.
This is the second set I created over the years with a few modifications including replacing the midi's with actual music. So, sit back, grab a cup of hot chocolate or maybe even a glass of wine and enjoy yourself in my little winter wonderland. You will need a Java Script enabled browser. Merry Christmas snow scene with music: Merry Christmas.
Tomorrow I suppose I will have to drag my butt out and clean up some of the massive white stuff that has fallen in the last few days. Perhaps even get a few winter wonderland photo's for my dear friends in the warmer climates who haven't had the priveledge of digging out after a large winter storm. Maybe if conditions permit I will venture out a bit and see if I can capture some images from around the area.
Have a safe, warm, wonderful and relaxing week.
What does this picture inspire in you? Write about it.
This picture inspires in me to take walks in a winter wonderland, to breathe the winter scent and taste the falling snow. This picture also inspires a story. About a man with a bad childhood that had one good thing that stayed with him throughout his life. And how it brought him and his wife together. I'll write that tonight or tomorrow.
2. Write about one of the five senses (related to your winter experience):
* The sights of winter
I life in the Hilltowns in Albany county of NYS. So when it snows, most of it's untouched. When the sun is out, the snow and ice on the trees glitters and it's the most beautiful sight anyone can imagine. Espeically when you're driving by. It's as if mother nature comes through with more beauty in the winter then any other season.
3. What is your favorite winter memory?
My favorite winter memory is when I walked up the road while it was snowing. I observed the trees and fields and the roads in the distance. It's beautiful to just sit outside and look at the wintry scene. Espeically when you see some birds and other animals go by every once in a while. It's peaceful.
4. What do you think or feel when you walk through freshly fallen snow?
When I walk through freshly fallen snow, I feel good. As if I'm walking through a new and exciting world. It makes me think of Seperia (Sa-pair-ra). A woman I created years ago who's been my other half and the reason why I still hang on to hope. She's a resiliant woman and she's absolutly wonderful. I'll write a post about her one day.
5. What are three things that you enjoy most about the winter season?
Three things I enjoy immensly about the winter season are one; the scenery, two; the smell, and three; the temperature. As I've mentioned above, the glittering scenery is to die for. The smell of crisp winter in the air is heavenly. And besides the smell of rain, it's my absolute favorite smell. To be able to go out and smell the crisp winter air before school fills me with energy. I enjoy the cold temperature and prefer it year 'round. I couldn't tell you the reason why I do. I love to be able to bundle up in blankets or to sit by a fireplace. Espeically with the one I love.
6. How does the cold winter weather and shorter days affect your mood or outlook on life?
Unlike most people, the cold winter weather and shorter days make me happier. It's the time of year when I see the most beauty and it gives me more inspiration then any other time during the year.
7. Holiday Photo Inspiration
What do the details of the holiday season bring to mind or heart? Express yourself.
I'm not Christian, nor do I care much for the Christmas holiday. But I've grown up with it my entire life so it has some meaning to me. It's a time when I want to make my mother happy more then she's ever been. I know I haven't succeeded completely yet, but I will one day.
8. Why are you are grateful for the winter season?
I'm grateful for the winter season because it's one reason why I'm still alive. That'll be in a later post as well.
9. What do you think or feel when you look at snowy winter scenes?
When looking at snowy winter scences, I think of snow. I feel serenity.
10. Why do you look forward to the winter season?
I look forward to the winter season because it's a time when I feel most alive.
Sunrise with icicles overhanging a window view. How does it make you feel to be inside when it's warm and cozy?
When it's warm and cozy inside my house, it feels nice. Like I said earlier, I like to be bundled up in blankets. And the occiasional hot chocolate isn't bad either. Somestimes though my muscles become stiff so I need to make them cold. Mostly, I fix it with water but putting them in snow does good too.
12. Go with the flow: Choose a prompting word from the following list and write about whatever comes to mind for five minutes without stopping.
Ice crystals are some of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. The way it glitters in the sun and how it drips when it begins to melt. How it points towards the ground and how it hangs on a tree or a house. I love when ice crystals are on trees. Driving by them with the morning sun is beautiful. It's like seeing another world, bare trees with ice crystals shining. I've always been one who adored glitter. And ice crystals in the morning sun is a kind of glitter that is worth looking at. It makes me think of things I want to do during the winter, and who I wish to be. Mostly it's my love but there are times I wish to be with friends. My best friend lives in another state though. I can't wait to see her. We'll have fun. She'll be here for graduation in June at least. I might go down on Spring Break. She wants me to move to North Carolina, where she is, but I'm not. To be honest, I rather be where I know there will be snow during the winter. But as long as I'm eventually with my love then I'll manage. At least I'll have pictures of the snow and it's beauty. Espeically on pine's around my house. And the memories of birds chirpping and the solitude of winter. The Hilltowns are best for winter vacations.
13. Winter Photo Inspiration
How does the ending of the winter season make you feel? Are you happy to see Spring begin?
hhhhhhmmm, that brings up an interesting point - why I great dislike the metric system...
I think as a whole the metric system is making the world a dumber place in which to live. "How can you possibly believe that to be true, great blogmeister?" you may be asking at this time. Well, it's like this, my child, the metric system does not require any math skills to use it - all one has to do is move the decimal point about. In my primary job, I need to be able to use the metric system as well as Imperial units of measure. I know that one millimeter is approximately .039 inches, I know that there are 25.4 millimeters in an inch, blah, blah, blah, and I know this all with such an ability is to be able to jot it all down without having to think about what I'm typing as I do so. I also know that 3 divided by 16 equals .1875 and that 9 divided by 32 equals .28125. How many people who are only knowledgeable in the metric system would know these two simple facts that I can pull out of my brain with such ease?
The second thing I dislike able the metric units of length is the fact that it is based on a flawed calculation of the length of the Earth from the pole to the Equator divided by a million. The actual surface of the planet is not perfectly spheroid and the was no account taken in to consideration that the big blue marble actually bulges at the middle...
Then we come to the measure of temperature. The average person through their own personal living only experiences a limit range of temperatures so why not make these as accurate as possible. From the freezing point to the boiling point of water there are 180 degrees of separation in the Fahrenheit system while there are only 100 degrees in the other system. Should what directly influences the everyday life of a human have some degree of precision?
"Well, what do you have against the gram, great Internet cult leader person?" I shall tell you, my children, and the answer will stun you with its simplicity. The answer lays in the fact that I dislike the gram because of the two reasons already given. One because it is base ten, it makes one stupid in the mysteries of the wondrous world of mathematics. Two because it is oversimplified in its range to express human interactions with the surrounding world...
In general, the metric system may be fine for those whose job requires them to think outside the realm of human experience, but for the most part, this does not apply to most humans on this planet so the metric system should be outlawed and those using should be imprisoned for no less than 20 years...
Thank you all so very much...
This is the Word of the AntiCrust presented in Imperial units...
Praise be the Word...
Sleigh bells ring, are you listening,
in the lane, snow is glistening
A beautiful sight,
we're happy tonight,
walking in a winter wonderland.
Gone away is the bluebird,
here to stay is a new bird
He sings a love song,
as we go along,
walking in a winter wonderland.
In the meadow we can build a snowman,
Then pretend that he is Parson Brown
He'll say: Are you married?
we'll say: No man,
But you can do the job
when you're in town.
Later on, we'll conspire,
as we dream by the fire
To face unafraid,
the plans that we've made,
walking in a winter wonderland.
Sleigh bells ring, are you listening,
in the lane, snow is glistening
A beautiful sight,
we're happy tonight,
walking in a winter wonderland.
Gone away is the bluebird,
here to stay is a new bird
He sings a love song,
as we go along,
walking in a winter wonderland.
In the meadow we can build a snowman,
and pretend that he's a circus clown
We'll have lots of fun with mister snowman,
until the alligators knock him down.
When it snows, ain't it thrilling,
Though your nose gets a chilling
We'll frolic and play, the Eskimo way,
walking in a winter wonderland.
Walking in a winter wonderland,
walking in a winter wonderland.
