Winning @ MindSay

Vince Lombardi

Brainyquote.com's quote of the day (I know, what, does she have a knitting stitch of the day subscription too? No, I promise, just words and quotes) is from Vince Lombardi. He said, "Winning is not everything, but wanting to win is."

Let's look at that. What he's saying is that it's the will to win that matters; the desire, that impulse that drags us up off our asses and incites us to DO rather than THINK. If you win without trying or wanting it, isn't that a rather hollow victory. Look at it this way: if a lawyer wins a case for a good cause but only wins because he's a good lawyer and just going through the motions, it doesn't mean much to him. But if a laywer wins a case that saves a man's life, and he wins because he truly wants to win and because he believes that winning will be saving an innocent man from a cruel fate, this victory is actually meaningful.

Alright, I'm done being all redundant. I just really liked the quote.

Cubs At The Bottom Of Division
Well, what do you know...the Cubs lost AGAIN.  They've won one of their four games this season which is not too pleasing, but I'm trying to tell myself that it's way too early to worry.  All the same, it's not a strong start.

I'm going to tomorrow's game...hopefully I'll bring good luck?

Giants vs. Cowboys
Time is running down on the Giants vs. Cowboys playoff game, and Tony Romo is looking rattled.  The Cowboys will not win this game unless he calms down and pulls himself together, but I don't even know if he has time to do that.  Matt Hasselbeck had the same problem yesterday, and the Packers used his lapse to capitalize on offense and put a lot of points on the board.  I think it's over for the Cowboys.

Texass

Reason #2,737 that I dislike living in this state. You may or may not be aware of the game that was played Thursday night on the NFL Network between the Green Bay Packers and the Dallas Cowboys.

It was a regular season game between two 10-1 teams. Let me repeat, A REGULAR SEASON GAME.

Most people don't have NFL Network so people that wanted to see the game most likely went out to a bar to watch it. Maybe they had been drinking too much. Maybe they were still feeling it Friday morning.

The Cowboys won the game as they should have. They were playing at home afterall. Home teams are usually favored to win.

Dallas fans were pissing all over themselves like they won the Super Bowl. I had to turn off the radio. It was disgusting! No matter what station I turned it to all I heard was - How 'bout them cowboys!

Memo to Dallas fans:

You are fans of the most popular NFL team. You have a long tradition of winning. So act like you have won something before. Show some class. Stop acting like you are getting disrespected.

Dallas fans are the most arrogant football fans I have ever come across. I think it just comes with the territory. It's the overall attitude here in Texas. Everything is bigger in Texas. That includes egos and assholes.

I have lived in six states and I have never witnessed the type of attitude of entitlement like I have here. You wanna know why George W. Bush and Dick Cheney are so screwed up? They spent too much time in Texas. All of the other assholes rubbed off on them. That's why it's even more amazing that Ron Paul has stuck to his principles.

I'm getting off track here...

The Super Bowl will be played on Feb. 3, 2008. The next morning Dallas fans will have an expression on their faces that will make you think somebody shit in their cereal.

Favre Poised To Become Winningest Quarterback
Brett Favre could become the all-time winningest quarterback on Sunday, if the Packers can beat the New York Giants.  With the Packers' win last Sunday, Favre tied John Elway's record for career victories by a starting quarterback with 148.
