I Love London! When Paris & London were vying to have the Olympics in their cities, I didn't really care. I loved both cities. I would have hated to see Paris bombed, but then I really didn't want London to be bombed either.
I was only in London for 5 weeks. I say only, and actually that is a long time if you think about it. But it wasn't long enough. I was there two months before 9/11/01, which means the world was pretty care-free. I was there for school, and we stayed at King's College in Hampstead.
The first night there someone ran screaming down the stairs saying they thought they saw a ghost. I thought it was really funny until the urban legends surfaced...one girl killed herself from one of the rooms. Another ate a hand...in apparently the same room.
I tried to have as much fun as possible...went on the Jack the Ripper tour, and heard every possible Jack the Ripper theory imaginable. Then at the end of the tour, we took the tube from Aldgate East back to home. I think Aldgate was one of the stations that was bombed. I took a picture there, but don't think I'll violate the privacy of my friends in that picture.
So 50 people died and bombs went off 4 different places. Even though that sounds like a lot of people, I'm just glad it wasn't 5,000. I could say a lot more about this, but I'll just simply wrap up by saying "I Love London."
