Our visit with my parents is at the half-way point, and so far so good. The kids are having a better time than I am, but it is more for them than for me. Here are some thoughts on the first half of our week:
1. October in Southern California can have beautiful weather or crummy weather...we have had a little of each so far. Yesterday was a beautiful fall day, but otherwise it's been overcast and gloomy with spotty rain and drizzle.
2. Grandparents truly exist only to spoil grandchildren. It's ridiculous the lengths they will go to.
3. My kids will need serious reprogramming when we get home. The older they get, the more reprogramming they need.
4. I used to moan about how rambunctious my boys are and "wouldn't it be nice to have a nice, sweet, calm little girl?"...not any more. After spending a few days with my bossy, moody, stubborn, spoiled niece, I take it all back. She's three years old, and boy is my brother in for it when she is a teenager!
5. "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" is just as hilarious now as it was when I was a little kid.
6. Staying with your aging parents when you are a grown woman is a real challenge to your patience level...especially when they insist on interfering with the tiniest attempts at disciplining the precious grandkids.
7. I'm looking forward to visiting with a couple of my Avon Walk/old work friends tonight, and still hope to see that berry!
