Well, Bobbie, my eldest child, has come and gone. She got here around one on Tuesday morning, and immediately made me laugh as she always does. She is so smart, but sometimes makes mistakes when saying long words (she's a blond! LOL)  She had me and her father laughing hysterically when she said that she was not afraid in the airplane at all until the TURBULATION started.  It reminded me immediately of when she was a blond haired little angel with HUGE brown eyes, looking up at me and saying she was SISHISHED with something, trying to say finished.  The week had begun on a high note, indeed.  She regaled us with stories of all the people (perfect strangers) she had met and spoken to along the way, including some young boys who were off to boot camp, who were bemoaning the fact that it would be their last cigarette for three months, and gave her a lighter that they would not be needing for a while.

She brought her camera and from the first day, just wanted to be out, taking pictures of the beautiful mountains around us.  She was as awestruck as I was when I first visited in December and when I moved here in February.

Each day, we lay in in the morning (she climbed in bed with me at four thirty when her father got up to go to work) and gabbed for a while each before getting up and out, and she scratched my back with her new, long, synthetic nails...purr!

Then we basically just took our time, getting ready, playing on the computer, and so on until the evenings when Lawlie came home and took us out to eat and galavanting to see what we could see. She also gave me some hints and help with the church music, which was a blessing.

We saw several lakes, and the beautiful mountains, with their stunning outcrops.  We also went to a ski lodge which was not occupied at present, but could see the beautiful buildings and what she would be able to enjoy if she came back in the winter.  We ate at several wonderful restaurants, the two best being Timbermine, which is built to look like underground in a mine; a real tourist attraction, with delicious steak, ribs and seafood; and Bombay Grill in Ogden, which is an Indian place, whetting the senses from the first step in the door.  We ate a delectable Lamb curry in Mango sauce, and chicken biryani, which is rice, chicken, veggies and spices all in one dish, unlike the curry which goes over basmati rice. Bobbie also tasted one of their Yassi drinks, which is made with yogurt and which reminded her of  her young days in South Africa, when we drank  Maas, which is somewhat like buttermilk.

On Saturday we went to the strip mall in the ski resort town of Park City, and Lawlie decided that when wives think their hubbies have been bad, they take them to Park City mall, while they take hours to shop.  He was sitting on the ground waiting for ages before we had shopped till we dropped. We got some pretty clothes at great prices while he stewed ! :)

Then Sunday, Bobbie went with us to church and sang for us, and enjoyed the time of fellowship afterward, when we grilled out and visited with the church people. She said if anything had to happen to her hubby, she would move out to Utah, as it is such a great place to live.  They can't move now, since her hubby's daughter lives in Kentucky with her mother, and comes to them on the weekends.

Since Lawl and I both have a computer, Bobbie and I played Scrabble (my favorite pastime) against each other online.  She was nervous at first, but just lacking in confidence; she is actually very very smart, top of her class all the way to her Radiology Tech degree. She picked up Scrabble and for a while was running ahead of me in rating.  We also watched some great movies together; was like old times.

By the time this morning rolled around, she was looking forward to being back with her husband who had the house all nicely cleaned for her return and a new diamond ring for her birthday, which will be tomorrow (or today, since it is past three  a.m. as I write this). She said it is stunning, that he must REALLY have missed her...was the first time they have been apart since being together about two years, married for one.

We had a great time. I do not know the names of every lake we went to, but here are some pics that she and I took during her stay.  I hope you enjoy them.  I loved having Bobbie and look forward to when my second daughter, Liza Anne gets to come, and to seeing all of them at my son's wedding on October 25th.

It is really really late and it is dark in here, so I will post some more photos tomorrow when I can see things more clearly..:)

Hope you enjoy these few anyway.

Excited
DSCI0220.JPG hosted for free by ImageShack

I am so excited; my daughter, Bobbie, the eldest is about an hour from arriving to visit me for a week.  I have not seen her since Mother's day and she was bound and determined to save and come see me...and she has accomplished it! :)

She had never traveled by plane alone and was very nervous at first, but, even though there was a lot  of turbulence, and they had to travel an hour out of their way, she made it and is proud of herself.  She is very intelligent, never having made less than an A all of her life, and doing great, top of the class even all through her Radiology Tech program, but is a bit low on self esteem.  However, she always does just fine when she puts her mind to anything.

I can't wait to spend the week with her silly self and have a blast.
I will put a photo of her here (with me, the old hag...lol) again, in case you can't remember which one she is.

An enjoyable and memorable 4th and surrounding days
So cheek and erik came down for the fourth, which was a lot of fun despite no robots being built.  We got the very last spot in the handicapped parking area, which was being blocked off by a traffic thingy for no reason we could discern so we moved it and parked there.  Didn't get a ticket either.  The fire works were cool and early as it was threatening to rain so they camr on the loudspeaker saying they would test a shot and if all goes well, go early.  Well all went well so they went ahead and did the fireworks.  Erik and cheek and ben and shawn got woodcuts and I got the generous gift of two games from cheek and erik.   Shawn and ben didn't arrive en motorcycle, luckily for shawn.  We decided not to purchase half price fireworks and instead played a few games of adversity which we all found entertaining.  We bring me shawn and ben.  I was unfortunately prevented from going out on the roof with my guests by the last thing before bed prefo wearing.  All in all it was really great seeing my friends and celebrating the 4th, even though we didn't make any fireworks robots.

Hello from Denver
Just a quick "hey!"  I'm out in Denver for the weekend visiting my cousin and his fiancee.  It's a nice, slow, relaxing day today for me because they both had to work, but I got buzzed at the Coors Brewery yesterday and we're heading into the mountains on Monday.  Plans for tomorrow are still in the works.  There will hopefully be some good pics on the way!

to finally sit naked in my living room

They are gone finally...my sister in law and her 4 kids.  They came to spend 10 days and help me with my husband.  The kids range in age from 15 to 7, two boys and two girls.  It started out as a great idea but quickly degenerated into screaming matches between the kids and their mother, whining by the kids to get what they wanted, and pouting and stomping feet when they did not get their way.  Within two hours of the kids arrival, the youngest boy had slipped away and fallen into the creek even though his mother had told him to stay away from the creek.  That child averaged at least two times a day, slipping away to the creek and "falling in accidentially"  My sister in law averaged three loads of kids laundry each day. When she was away from the house taking my husband to appointments she told the kids to stay in the house  Of course the youngest son did not do as he was told.More screaming, more pouting, then the son would come back and tell her he was sorry and hug on her and she would think it was all cute.  At one point I told her that sometime in the future he was going to run into someone who woudl not think his antics so cute, but I did nto pursue the conservation any further.  Peopel get very put out when you talk to them about disciplining their children so I just let it drop.

For the week that the kids were her, the total body count: one dead garbage disposal because something is jammed in it we think, one broken porceline figurine which has since been mended with crazy glue, a couple of missing rocks from my son's rock collection that he left behind when he moved out on his own, and a missing bracelet that my son gave me two years ago for my birthday. Personal toll, three fights between my sister in law and my husand and one fight between myself and my husband and screaming matches between the kids too many to count and between my sister in law and her kids too many to count.

What was accomplished:  I was forced to get the two upstairs bedroom relatively clean before they came, clean sheets and blankets on all four of the beds, a clean guest bathroom, and most of my laundry washed if not all of it put away where it belongs.

I was able to actually go to work and spend the entire day at work for 5 days!  This happened even though I had a terrible cold/allergy that morphed into earaches, and infected eyes and a deep rasping cough that will not go away.

Because of my husband's stepping on a roofing nail, my sister in law took him to one of his pheresis treatments, 5 different doctors appointments and two lab tests.  I took him for one pheresis treatment, surgery on his foot and an echocardigram.  The kids got one day visiting downtown DC and one day visiting their granparents in PA.

What we all learned. My sister in law learned how frail my husband, her brother had become.  She learned how difficult it was to deal with him when he didnt want to do something, even when it was good for him or necessary. She learned how obsessive and impatient her brother could be especially when he wasnt feeling well and how afraid he has become of venturing out without me.  She learned how hard it is to watch him and make sure he does things like keep his foot elevated, take his meds , or take his insulin...even when  6 people are after him to do these things and how when you manage all of the trips to the doctors then you really have very little energy left for things like house work.  My husband learned how much I cater to him and his whims since his sister would have none of it. She did not have to deal with him when we had had a sleepless night but the next day she could tell neither my husband nor I had slept.  He learned that his sister was willing to put herself and her kids through a lot just to be with him. And how much they all love him.  I learned that family is a strong lifeline even when you feel like they are driving you crazy.  I and my husband remembered why we only ended up with one child.  And I was reminded of the simple pleasure of having the privacy to sit alone in your living room naked in the middle of the night.
