Programs
I finally found programs that'll do what I've been looking for.

CloneMaster looks for exact duplicate files.  Roughly 10% of my files were duplicates, scattered across the drive - mostly mp3s that ended up in multiple genre-specific folders as a result of a series of synchronization accidents, lol. Uses a ton of system resources, virtual memory, takes a long time, and is very slow, but performs as advertised,  :D

FileRenamer changes the file names in batches.  Say you ripped songs from a cd and are putting them into a genre-labeled folder.  Unfortunately, they have the track numbers at the beginning.  Ever tried to remove the first four characters of multiple files?  Pain in the ass.  I used this program to remove such numbers from over four hundred files.  Took about thirty seconds.  :)

I hope you find them as useful as I did!  ^_^

Have you tried Clipmarks yet?

Well if you haven't tried it yet and if you enjoy gathering together little snippets of information from the internet and in particular if you like sharing these great finds with others then you might want to explore it further!

The system works so-o-o-o-o-o intuitively I was already clipping and doing things within a few moments after setting up the account!

What a useful and fun to use new kewl tool for internet surfers and the curious alike.

Don't believe me; heck even Borat has an account and several weird and wonderful clips! honest! I didn't believe it till I read them all and nearly ripped my sides in laughter! Which is real tough when recovering from pneumonia let me tell you! he! he! :D

Here's a link to my own clipmarks page you're welcome to check it out, though I've only started. Even better, just go directly to the website at  http://www.clipmarks.com and check them out for yourself. There's even a fun demo that helps explain what it's all about and how to download and install the toolbar items that make it work sweet as honey, smooth as silk!

I use Mozilla's Firefox browser (which I LOVE!) so for me it was a cinch, it may be trickier with other systems and configurations but that's up to you to explore and discover - good luck with that and, hey, have fun clipping!

I've been having a ball exploring all the clips other people have been making - and I can even leave comments with other clippers about content that's collected! What a blast, really!

And it turns out they are fellow Flickr members too so go figure - it really is a small world - even on the internet!
Here's a link to their Flickr photo page which highlights the Firefox "recommended add ons list" which was the notice that led me to this great new tool!

What a crazy, zany, kewl world we live in! It's getting better all the time! ;)
