Unpacking @ MindSay
Move in went great, and I had the help of some friends. That definitely sped the process up. I'm still in the process of putting stuff away, but I'll work on that this weekend.
I love being back home!!! Okay not so fond of the snow and ice but I can handle that! I am going to charge my camera battery up tonight and snap outside pictures of the house and area we are living for you all.
The first week back we ate dinner at my folks twice. The evening we pulled in and the second evening while my flat top stove/oven was cleaning from being in my parents' basement for almost 2 years. Mark it on the calandar Niassa's daddy volunteered to watch the demon spawn if I had to work in the late afternoons and evenings! And then promptly put restrictions on it once I got a job which caused me to loose my mind and tell my mother her husband is a parinoided marter that needs to be reality checked. More on that later:P
I also called my sissy out in NY and talked to her for a bit. I had to let someone know from the clan i was alive:P
Randy and I both took the first week to relax and enjoy being back in the home area. We promptly went to the city for Hu Hot Mongolian Grill:D Love it! I also walked into the Humane Society to start eyeballing dogs for this spring. My uncle, our landlord, was just as upset if not more then we were when he found out the fucked up TX landland lords in OK made us get rid of my pooches. He said that I could have the use of one of the barns and have animals and then wisely rephrazed it to: "Randy if you want you can have animals!:D" I didn't like any of the dogs there and they only had 2 cats in the kennals because all the rest were at area vet offices on display or at the petstores on display. I did see 2 guine pigs and with Randy's consent my zoo is being rebuilt and restocked! Now we have 3 cats; Socks, Shadow, and Smokey, 2 birds; Tweek and Tweeter and 2 Guine Pigs; Eyeore and Piglet. Randy is also going to set my one barn up to get chickens again and a friend of ours is going to supply us with about 6 layers and a rooster and Randy is going to go up to one of the feedstores and get me about a dozen fryers/roasters so we can butcher. My uncle also told us we wanted we could get goats and a pony/horse for the kids and use my cousin's old horse barn for them. We are debating on the horse and the goats.
I was promptly stolen from my family the majority of the day the first Saturday back and taken to a Pampered Chef party via a friend of mine. Where I got to see her ex sister in law (they get along great) who I am friends with and who is together with a joint friend of mine and the friend who stole me. I got myself a large round baking stone, the rack to go with it and a batter bowl:d Oh and I will be hosting my own Pampered Chef party in April:D If you are interested in buying something from my lady from my party, just let me know she has her own website and you can put my name in and buy under my party:D
The kids are finishing out school in my home town this year. I feel somewhat better for them there now that I found out some of my surrgate family members are working up there and are keepin an eye out for them.
My house is the majority of the way put away..........have 2 boxes of ritual supplies to put up but that is it until we get the rest of my stuff from storage in a few months or weeks:D
Wait for the next update:D
I am sitting here at work...totally exhausted. I am fighting sleep as I sit here. I had an hour nap, just before showering and coming to work, and decided that it wasn't nearly enough. I am just going to give you a quick rundown of my day...
My cats got out today... *sighs*
I realize that every living being wan'ts to be liberated at one point or another, but my concern comes in for my cat Ebbie... she was born in my house and had never been subjected to the harsh cold realities of the outside world, whereas, Ling Ling was found outside of my work, severely beaten and abused but street savvy. We got Ling back at about 6:30 pm, but still, there is no sign of Ebbie...this has me really worried... I love my kitty, and she has never been outside or forced to fend for herself.
I fought with Rob today... his priorities for getting things done is completely backwards. I gave him a set of tasks to accomplish since he isn't working at the moment, and you would have thought I tried to kill his mother. He went to DSM workforce development to see about his unemployment benefits and has even had a job interview (because I made him apply the day he was let go)... he has not even bothered to apply at any jobs since... just sitting at home accomplishing nothing...hence the small list of tasks. Now people can criticize me if they want... I don't care. I have a policy, that if you are not working, you must earn your keep... I don't ask anyone to do anything that I wouldn't do myself though, so don't assume I am just being a wicked bitch. I asked Rob to go through his belongings that has been sitting in a pile on the living room floor, and in 2 giant boxes in the dining room since we moved in June 1st...thats right, a little over 3 months and it has been sitting on my floors, this entire time because Rob was "Just not able to get it done"... well...there is no more excuses... he obviously has plenty of free time now...so I ask him to do it and he seems to think that hanging up a curtain in our bedroom is more important... and then moving the dresser next to the bed, instead of being at the foot of the bed. ?!?!?!?!?!
How hard is it to go through boxes and papers? why would a person avoid doing something for 3 months? I am not allowed to go through it because it is his, so it sat there...all that time, driving me crazy... I took it all to our room once, but he just drug it out and said he needed to have a lot of space to go through it...*sighs*
His priorities are weird... he doesn't mind clutter, I absolutely abhorr it.
Anyway... that is my bitch for today... I can't stand it when people have no drive. I can only be understanding for so long... maybe I am a nag... hell, I don't know... money is already tight though, so this is actually really bad for our finances, and bad for my nerves.
damn....
Hey Guys, I'm back! :)
Packing and moving was exhausting but luckily we had friends to help us and two great movers who took care of our things and were happy to do anything for us. We started moving on 3rd of December at 9am. We finished at 7pm. Jan finished moving all his stuff over on the 7th of December just one hour shy from having to hand back the keys to the rental agency.
I am still in the midst of unpacking which I think is the hardest. It takes time to figure out exactly where you want to put everything. It took about 3 days figuring out the kitchen and our master bed isn't totally worked out yet but the main things we use are out - otherwise it's living out of boxes!
We have received most of the furniture we ordered including our huge 50 inch plasma tv. It's so huge that it might be best to watch from the kitchen which is all the way at the back of the house! We love it! :p
I am annoyed that I have to use a credenza as my desk which took Jan and I four hours to assemble starting midnight the other night because the stupid lady at Freedom who served us ordered the wrong desk so I have to wait 2 more weeks for the right one! Also I bought an extra shelf that of course wasn't enough for the multitude of books I have (think 34 boxes) so my dreams of being able to display and actually SEE all my books are shot. However, I've found this cool book catalogue on the net: www.librarything.com where I have been eagerly adding all my books and checking them out in my 'graphical library'. It's very cool! That way I can keep a track of all the books I have - and those I haven't read which is quite a few.
It hasn't hit me that this is our house. We have become so used to renting that I keep on thinking we still are and sooner or later there will be an agent on our doorstep with a bunch of strangers to show them through the house as every house we've rented has been sold. I tell ya it was a happy time when I was able to delete 'rent money' from our finances.
It's beautiful here. I love everything about our house...The newness, the modern lines, the well established garden (I better hire a full-time gardener), the rooms - from our balcony you can see the Dandenong ranges through the trees.
Everyday I wake up, I thank God for this wonderful blessing of our own home that is so lovely. I thank God that we won't have to move for say...another ten years?! We're finally staying put and nobody can kick us out! No more bitchy agents. No more paranoia and anxiety of having to leave. No more paying rent! YAY! :D
