Illinois Dismisses Smith
URBANA, Ill. -- Junior guard Jamar Smith was dismissed from the Illinois men's basketball team on Thursday, two days after a prosecutor asked a judge to revoke his probation for allegedly drinking alcohol. Coach Bruce Weber said Smith's decision to violate terms of a personal agreement for his return to the team left him without a choice.

"At this time, Jamar and his family need to focus their attention on the issues that have brought Jamar to this point," Weber said in a statement posted on the team's Web site. "For the good of our program and players we need to move forward and prepare for the 2008-09 season."

Still Nothin' Doin'
I'm only now getting a chance to write in this thing.  It's not that I've really been all that busy, I just never think to come on here anymore.  Hopefully I can get back into the habit.

Thursday was a big disappointment for Illinois basketball fans like myself.  A double-overtime loss to rival Indiana will leave a bad taste in your mouth. Smiley

Illinois

Seriously, nothing else is really going on.  I've been going to a lot of my brother's basketball games.  I am still single.  I'm thinking about going to grad school next year.  I just don't know.

Illini Basketball's Looking Good
Illinois is 5-2 to start the basketball season, so things are looking up.  I wish they'd play Jeffrey Jordan more since he is Michael Jordan's son and all, but I realize he's a walk-on player and maybe not quite where he needs to be.  Still, I gotta believe that the kid can play.  You can't grow up as Michael Jordan's eldest son and have no basketball ability.

Football, Baseball, I'm Up Late
Illinois won today.  There would've been big problems if they didn't, since they were playing Ball State.

I'm watching the world series right now.  The Rockies finally started to make things interesting.  There's nothing worse than a boring baseball game, especially during the playoffs.

I think I'm rooting for the Rockies, just because they're the underdogs.  Really, though, I'll be fine either way.

Haters Be Damned
I'm just now getting around to blogging about the University of Illinois' loss on Friday.  Some people said that Illinois didn't even belong in the tournament this year, but I think they had more of a right to be there than some other teams.  Friday's game was close...they lost by 2 points to a good Virginia Tech team.  They definitely deserved to be there; they just ran up against some bad luck and a tough opponent, but could have easily won the game.
