Some Causes And Remedies For Lower Backaches
Generally, people jump for over the counter drugs, once they start feeling the slightest discomfort. However, it is very important to know the actual cause for the pain before proceeding with any type of medication. The following are some of the causes and remedies for the treatment for backache.
1) Immobility and poor posture: Sometimes, just sitting for long hours without any movement of the body plus a poor posture may be the cause of back pain. In such cases, simple stretches, frequent changes in the sitting position and a good posture will prove beneficial.
2) Improper lifting: Often people involved in strenuous activities experience this disorder. Pain in the lower back occurs because of the pressure exerted on the back due to bending forward or moving awkwardly while lifting heavy objects. Following a good posture to lift objects is necessary to avoid pressure on the back. Even the people carrying shoulder bags should try to carry them with both straps over their shoulders to avoid undue strain on their back due to uneven weight.
3) Emotional stress: Stress is also one of the causes for backache. The spine muscles are stiffened due to shallow or quick breathing during the stress conditions. This causes tension in the back muscles and leads to pain. Keeping the mind relaxed and drinking a lot of water is helpful in eliminating the toxins from the body.
4) Causes affecting females: Women who wear high heels and stand for long hours often face this problem. Backache also occurs in pregnant women during their third trimester. It is due to their increased body weight. However, it can be minimized by following certain simple exercises and it will ease with the passage of time.
5) Other factors: Apart from the above factors, there may be other principal symptoms of certain serious ailments that cause backaches. Recurring and chronic pain should be diagnosed immediately as it may be due to a disorder in the kidneys, lungs or female reproductive organs.
Preventing Back Pains
Even though there are many remedies available for the treatment for lower back pain, prevention of the pain is better than its cure. A medication like any OTC drug provides temporary relief but does not solve the root cause of the problem. The problem has to be diagnosed early and preventive measures have to be taken rather than waiting for it to grow into a serious disorder. By exercising regularly, eating a balanced diet and sleeping well, you can help your back function more effectively.

Natural Treatments for Problem Hair
Is your hair dry and brittle? Is the color dull and lackluster? Forget expensive commercial products that can do more damage than good to your hair; treat your hair yourself, using all-natural ingredients found in your own kitchen.
DO-IT-YOURSELF CHOLESTEROL TREATMENT
Would you believe that most commercially bought cholesterol hair conditioners contain alcohol- the very thing that dries out hair? Instead, grab a cup full of mayonnaise, some plastic food wrap and throw a couple of towels in the drier on high.
Work the mayonnaise into your hair, starting by massaging it into the scalp and roots. Then draw it through to your ends until your hair is thoroughly coated. Pile the hair on top of your head. Take a couple of feet of saran wrap and wrap it around the top of your head to contain the mayo.
Take a pre-heated towel from the dryer and wrap it around your head over the saran wrap. The heat will aid with deep conditioning. After about 10 minutes, change to another heated towel and leave that on for another 10 minutes.
Remove the towel and plastic wrap and shampoo your hair as usual. Done once a month, this cholesterol treatment will keep your hair soft and shiny.
* Tip: if your hair ends are very damaged from chemical treatment, you can do this once a week. If your scalp is naturally oily, you might want to only add mayo to the hair ends for weekly treatments.
QUICK SOLUTION FOR OILY HAIR
If your scalp is naturally oil, you probably have to shampoo your hair daily to keep it from looking greasy or stringy. If, however, you are running short on time or need a quick lift in the middle of the day, grab a box of cornstarch and a large, clean blush brush.
Pour some cornstarch out onto a dish and dip the brush into it. Then, with a comb, part your hair in the center and brush the cornstarch onto your scalp and roots. Make another part 1/4 to an inch off-center and repeat. Continue this method down one side of your head, then from the center and down the other side.
Go about your business for about 10 minutes while the cornstarch soaks up the excess oils in your hair. Then, take a brush and brush out your hair, ridding it of the cornstarch flakes.
CURE FOR DANDRUFF:
Vinegar is poured into the hair, massaged into the scalp, and left to dry for a few minutes. Then the hair is washed.
The process is repeated daily until the dandruff disappears, usually within a few days.
FOR A COLOR ENHANCER:
If your own natural color, or your color treated hair, begins to look drab, all you need are a few ingredients from your garden or local produce store to brighten it up.
Begin by boiling one quart of water. In a piece of doubled cheesecloth, add the following:
· for brunettes- a handful fresh rosemary sprigs (bruise by crumpling in your hand)
· for blondes- a handful of dried chamomile
· for "orange tone" redheads- a chopped-up carrot
· for "berry tone" redheads- a chopped up beet
Tie up the ingredient in the cheesecloth and toss into the boiling water, removing it from heat. Let steep for 10 minutes.
Remove and discard the cheesecloth bag. Shampoo and rinse your hair as usual. Then, pour the warm (not hot) color-enhancing rinse over your hair. As a final rinse, use a quart of cold water. Once a month treatments will keep your hair color vibrant.
BUILD-UP REMOVER
Often the culprits of drab coloring and lackluster hair are all the styling products that we regularly use. They begin to build up and dull the shine and tone of our hair.
Get rid of the build up by mixing 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar with 1 gallon of distilled water. This can be stored in a cabinet or the refrigerator and used every couple of weeks to keep hair squeaky clean. To use it, wet hair with warm water, or shampoo and rinse as usual. Then pour 2 cups over the scalp and let mixture saturate the hair. Finish up with a cold-water rinse.
baby acne is characterized by the appearance of pimples or red bumps on the baby's scalp, forehead, and especially the cheeks. A rough skin, along with pustules, whiteheads, and blackheads is also a common indication of baby acne.
Myth 1: Baby acne is the same as infantile acne or teenage acne.
This is not true. Baby acne is not the same as infantile acne, which affects older infants over three months old. It also has no connection with the acne that teenagers and adults suffer from.
Myth 2: Baby acne can occur at anytime during childhood.
Actually, baby acne usually affects babies three to four weeks after birth. Sometimes however, babies even exhibit signs of baby acne right from the time they are born. The symptoms may appear and recede intermittently as the baby reaches around four to six months of age.
Myth 3: Baby acne is the result of poor hygiene and nursing.
On the contrary, baby acne is believed to be caused by hormones released by the mother during pregnancy. Absorbed through the placenta, these hormones play an important role in the development of the fetus during the later stages of pregnancy. These hormones stimulate the oil glands present in the baby's skin and are thought to cause baby acne.
The symptoms may, however, get aggravated when the baby's skin reacts to irritants, such as detergent left behind in clothing or bedding, for instance. Increase in the flow of blood to the skin, brought about when the baby is hot or active, can also intensify symptoms of baby acne.
Myth 4: Baby acne is a serious condition that needs treatment.
This is just not true. Baby acne is harmless and does not really require treatment. The symptoms generally disappear on their own in a few weeks. Also, the application of creams or lotions - a common practice amongst parents - may actually worsen the symptoms, and should therefore be avoided. Gently washing the face daily, using water and baby soap, may help alleviate the symptoms of baby acne.
Today is February 15th. It is cold and breezy here in the midwest. I went to an oral pathologist today concerning my lichen planus in my mouth. I have suffered from this going on four years now. From what I can tell, stress is a trigger for it. That is when it likes to flare-up. It is a pain. It limits what you can eat and drink. Hot and spicy food is out. Acid food and drinks is out. No coffee, tea, orange juice. No chili, Mexican food, catsups, pizza, I could go on and on. If I eat or drink these things it burns like h.......! Sleeping hurts also. How, by laying my cheek on my pillow. My body itches, especially my ankles and feet. And another place I won't mention. I have went to many skin specialists, and nothing seems to work. So, now I am trying someone else. A dental oral pathologist. They made a cast of my lower teeth to make some kind of a gadget to put medicine in so that I can keep the medicine right on the sores on my gums. Sounds like fun. Thirty minutes a day, twice a day, plus a mouth rinse twice a day between the other twice a day stuff. I have taken some serious medicines. Having to get a blood test every month. Shots in my bottom. Creams, tablets, lotions. You get the picture. I have looked it up and it says most cases go away in 18 months. Well, not me. So, maybe, I should chill out and not get so stressed!!!!!!!! How???? Living is stressful, husbands are stressful, kids are stressful, weight is stressful, a child in Iraq is very, very STRESSFUL! Another child, suffering from tramatic stress syndrome from being in Iraq 3 years ago and the Army doesn't even care, is stressful! So, I guess less stress would probably be a very good thing, if only........................
Well, enough hot air. Life goes on. I read another artical and it said it could last for five years or more. It could disappear, then reappear years later. Oh My! What fun to look forward to! Growing old, how sweet. Better than pushing up daisies.
Hope you have a good and unstressful day.
Peace Be With You, judy
