Well... I did it. I went to the Gym and made use of my new membership. I have been putting off joining a new gym for YEARS. I hated Bally's... Way overpriced, inconveniently located and of course... Stupid contracts. They waaay scared me off gyms. No contract with this gym... Yeah! Just an initiation fee, and 1st and last months fee. No tooo steep.
However! I need this. It has been crappy and rainy for days and shows no signs of relenting. That makes it a bit hard to stick to my guns and walk around the neighborhood.
I went this evening after dinner and checked out a few machines. The verdict is... I don't like the elliptical machine but I dig the treadmill and can stand the cycle. I did 5 min on the elliptical, 5 minutes on the reclining cycle and 30 minutes on the treadmill. Then I decided to try the elliptical again since I was looser and warmed up... I still didn't like it. 5 more minutes there and then I wrapped it up with a final 15 on the cycle.
Next time I will start on the treadmill, and finish on the cycle and build from that.
Any advice for the very out of shape to start on? I plan to build up to the Yoga class and want to try water aerobics too.
