Travels with triplets...The origional plan.
Oh the best laid plans! It seemed to make sence at the time. We decided to go across the country to Tennessee, to check out a job my fiance was trying to get. But of course, we couldn't just FLY to tennessee. Nope. First we were going to go by train to California to visit his family and some of mine, then take the train across the country to Boston for a week. And THEN on to Tennessee.
Okay, so that doesn't seem like such a big deal tight. But it is when you realize that we did it with half our kids. We were planning the trip with 2 16 year olds, a 3 1/2 year old with sensory disabilities/autism, two 7 year olds, an 8 month old (only going as far as CA) and two and half month old TRIPLETS!
We figured taht it was going to be hard, dealing with everyone's feeding and sleeping schedules. And pushing around a stroller as big as a landbarge is a bit of a pain. But why should we put our life on hold. We just didn't think about how each of the kids were going to behave or handle the trip. Turns out...Yup, its pretty hectic traveling across country with Triplets. And I am going to copy our journey here.

Sometimes dreams are no more than what we think they are
our mind playing tricks and putting together some strange drama in our sleeps for its own amusement. Sometimes though, they're not. Sometimes they're more. Mine always are. I warned of a tornado once. I was just a little girl so no one believed me, and even though Mamma thought there might be something to it... She was killed by it just the same. Her soul was taken right up into heaven, right up into the clouds. Her body was dropped right back down though. And my Daddy, I dreamed of water the night before our wagon turned over on him as he tried to cross Logan's Creek... in the deep part. Not all are sad though... I dreamed of a young man with a fire in his eyes and a fine will to live. Couldn't make out his face, but the very next day I was introduced to my own Tyler and I knew right then that we had met in my dreams, and that he was the one mint for me. And he was. Those dreams I understood. My dreams now, I don't. Four nights... all in a row. Same one, I'm just flying... through the clouds lightening in the distance but I can feel it shooting through me... floating through clouds full of water, but none of it would fall... and I reach out into the clouds but all I come away with is dust. Don't know what to make that. At least I hope I don't. Then... the clouds... they turn to steam. On my face I can feel it... and the rumble of a locomotive engine throughout my body, and this rumble shakes me so hard it leaves a whole where my heart should be... but there's nothing there now... my insides are all gone. The train whistle sounds like a scream... and there's something familiar about it...
GOD I LOVE THE PLAY THE ORPHAN TRAIN
GOD I LOVE THE PLAY THE ORPHAN TRAIN
China, the DNC and RNC
Name 3 things in the news that have steam powered railroad locomotives as bit-part players on the (all the) world's stage currently. Correcto-mundo if you read the title above.
Yes the Chinese make a mean steam locomotive, or they used to. Now they re-make and export locomotives that can pull long freight trains. I know this because Youtube is loaded with videos of the "QJ" (that's what the engines are called) stroking across the mid-west, USA, smoke blowing every whicha-way and railcars trailing submissively along behind.
Too bad that the television remote control the Chinese made and sold to me at Wally-world didn't work as well as the steamer QJ. Too bad the instructions that came with it were written by persons who obviously have never owned a tv set. And just try to find one made in the USA, with instructions in actual English.
What does any of that have to do with RNC & DNC? Well, who do you think passed laws governing how international trade to and from this country is managed? Yes, some of those gals and guys at RNC and DNC, and the lobbyists who run that show get the credit. The taxpayers get the debt. And what does that have to do with steam locomotives?
Consider that the Union Pacific Railroad just ran a 34 car passenger train to Denver for the DNC. It was headed by what is quite nearly the largest steam locomotive in the world. And the same train was scheduled to go to St. Paul with an even bigger steamer doing the pulling, but according to the UP RR website, the trip has been canceled.
Seems to me that if the Grand old Party really wants to win this thing in November they would welcome a full head of steam, even from an old railroad engine.

There's an iron train a-travelin' that's been a-rollin' through the years...
With a firebox of hatred and a furnace full of fears.
If you ever heard its sound or seen its blood-red broken frame,
Then you heard my voice a-singin' and you know my name...
'Tis a wondrous night that has me so amazed at the spectacle of it. Far off in the distance I can hear the roar of a train as it passes through valley beyond the hill. And is the whistle blowing as it passes through the small town. I know this train, I know it well. I know all the trains having grown up on the opposite side of the hill. There were many nights that I would sit upon my parents back porch and just listen to the trains as they thundered along their tracks, heading towards Pittsburgh or heading towards Johnstown. I would sit and listen to the rhythm of the wheels upon the joints in the track as I stared off into the distance at some unseen place a million miles away...
I still have vivid memories of the night when the train derailed just a mile from the house when the screams of steel upon steel rang through the night. I could feel the instant that the cars destroyed the foot bridge that I had used so many times in the past, I could imagine being at war with the rumble of shells falling just outside my trench. I remember driving down to see what had happen, to see if I could help those who may have been injury or suffering from shell shock, fortunately my services where not required for no a drop of blood was shed - the enemy's attack was unsuccessful though they eventually won the war...
Alas, the defeat was thorough and complete. The foot bridge was never rebuilt. The trains run far less frequently since that day for two lines were removed - never to be replaced. And the sounds of the train are heard far less since then much like the sounds of the train that started this now are fading into the distance and will eventually fade into just a memory...
And all I have left are my memories of the war and these too will soon fade into nothingness...
This is the Word of the AntiCrust...
Praise be ye who Read the Word for ye are Blessed amongst humans...
