Looking for the perfect building

Just getting over a really bad migraine which I have had for 3 days. It started when I spent the whole day trying to find a site for my thesis project. There were a few buildings that I really loved but they either didn't have parking or were too small. Parking availability is one of the criterias for my site. My professor has decided my topic isn't so bad because everyone he spoke to apsolutely loves my topic of chocolate. He was like, what can you do with chocolate? but I could pick any topic I liked so I chose chocolate. He doesn't want us to do something run of the mill like a school or a hotel for example, the building as to have an innovative purpose. I have spent hours looking at past projects and still really like my friends' work. She did a science center in a church. Her issue was the conflict between science and religion but her whole work was really good. The design and the materials chosen were great.

Now I have to try and find the perfect building and hopefully get the floor plans. 20,000 square feet is a lot to play with and took me days to do the program. I have to think about things like building codes, lighting, air circulation. Math, not my strongest subject.

I am getting there slowly but surely. My professor is not the easiest of people and he really peeved most of the class off. There were 7 of us in the beginning, now we are five. It's a hell of a lot of work and he is just never happy. Every week for me now is like playing catch up. Three sites to find and document with floor plans by Tuesday. O joy, when will it be mine........

Tribute to Truck Drivers- Surrounded by Metal

My poetrychallenge topic from Friday was: Metal. This is what I was inspired to write.

Surrounded by Metal

Mile after mile blackness rolls out from under
divided only by dashes of white and glimpses of yellow
Pilgrims voyaged, Pioneer wagons rolled like thunder
We look back and think oh what a smart fellow

Christopher Columbus, Daniel Boone just to name two
Who felt in their hearts there was more to be explored
Wood planks, wood wheels carried their crew
Promises of freedom and lands untouched their reward

Holding a microphone and speaking in code
surrounded by 30,000 pounds of metal
carrying to people far and wide the daily load
Where wanderers dust never seems to settle

Truckers love the road and love being home
Such a contrary situation of heart
but alas there is always that sparkling chrome
filled with treasures and a day calling for a fresh start

A child's eyes light up holding their new toy
The man takes his medicine and sleeps pain free
Opening an envelope with good news, she smiles with joy
Groceries piled high, new clothes for school to earn their degree

The fact remains and say what you will
that big machine's heart beats in a secret enclave
Yet passing thru Yourtown, USA takes great skill.

As they roll by, take a moment to throw them a wave

Apple Pie-Poetry challenge Entry

My eyes hadn't opened yet
my mind still in dreamy land
The day held promise of no upset

Taking in a deep breath my mind gave pause
as a familiar fragrance sharpened my morning mind
Eyes opening in a flash, my spirit in applause

Leaping to the head of the stairs
my feet nary touched the floor
Standing still only to again sniff the air

One thought did stop my trip down
that I may have to wait til dinner time
indeed, yes that put me into a frown

Casting aside that dark thought good-bye
I turned the corner and felt the warmth
of my mom's smile and her homemade apple pie!
