Obviously my parents played a critical role both biologically and in the way they nurtured me. Nature + Nurture!
-
One nerdy & humble man of God (first name, Jim) back in my sophomore year in high school, demonstrated that Jesus was bigger than church, bigger than Sunday morning, and alive & able to change lives still. He also let me feel around and find my own way to love Jesus.
-
After college, I enlisted in the Army, and was shipped off to a few different places. I landed in Fairbanks, Alaska, certain I'd been set to the absolute end of the world. I was not too happy with God or my life at that point. Still ... God watched out for me, set me in a family there ... a family that loved Him. They became more than just friends ... they became mentors on many levels. (Another Jim & Barb - and 3 kids: Jerry, Lori, & Beth) They all taught me tons of stuff ... TONS! They showed me Family. Discipline. Communication. They became a life sized object lesson that heavily influenced my early notions of family.
-
Then ... my Ex ... not a Jim! lol Sadly, he taught me a lot, too, but not usually good fun stuff. I found my marriage certainly didn't fit the mold ... or my dream. Still, I fought for it for nearly 20 years before I walked away, fearful that I would fall into the "mold" of the typical divorced woman. Another image I fought!
-
My 3 kids entered this world loved. I've learned bunches from each of them, too, trying to discern their gifts and talents and steer them in their own individual path! I imagine I will continue to learn from them ... I tried to fit into the image I had of a perfect "mom," but ... I just didn't fit it! Then, for a time, I felt like a failure because I couldn't fit it ... sheesh! So good to know that first, there is no such thing as a perfect mom or dad, and, secondly, since it doesn't exist, I don't have to fit it! lol

A company of delightful, fun, and amazing friends ... Someone told me one day when I wasn't thinking very well of myself, that if I line all my friends and family up in my imagination side by side, I will see a reflection of myself in them. Pretty good advice! This notion helped to re-adjust my thinking on a number of occasions. Check it out!
I admit, however, that I'm the kind of person who is just arrogant enough to want to break through the expectations put on me by others. I remember in 5th grade one day at recess ... (amazing what we remember, hmmm?) Anyway, it had snowed recently, and there was a large pile of snow beside the ball field. The other kids were playing kickball, but this one day, I didn't feel like playing kickball. I felt like being by myself. I wandered toward the pile and packed a snow ball, then pensively began to "carve" it with my mittened thumb. My teacher, Mrs. Hornbeck, slowly walked over and asked if I was OK. She interrupted my solitude and it irritated me. I wanted to be alone. She was concerned for my well-being. Now, if it had been this way everyday, there might be cause for concern, but it wasn't everyday ... just once in a while. She coerced me into joining the kickball game. Fun ... but it wasn't what I wanted to do on that day. Point is ... she misjudged what I was doing and what I needed at the time by putting her expectations on me.
How often do we "coerce" others into some image we have for them?
OK ... I digress ... There was a time when my parents were my identity. Then, my college was my chosen identity and I wore it like a badge of honor. I joined the Army, rebelliously breaking from the path my parents and others may have set for me. I was offered a commission, but declined it. I wanted to be respected for my personal performance, not because of the insignia on my collar, so I didn't really fit the military images either.
Politics ... religion ... socio-economic ... education ... So many criteria we use to judge and categorize people. Just like you, I am an individual with personal likes and dislikes, strong opinions, convictions, and beliefs. I've ALIVE ... imperfect ... flawed ... changing ... growing ... challenging ... seeking ... and I care for people ... for individuals. Just when you think you have me figured out ... BOOM! I'll do or say something that doesn't seem to line up. Have I suddenly changed, or am I still me being me? What's my identity!
I tend to become defensive when I, or someone I care about, is "coerced" into something they may not want or believe. With all the political JUNK going on these days, there is a lot of prejudice. A few days ago, I wrote a piece about my stand about Iraq. You may disagree with me, but it is inaccurate to toss me into the pile of "ignorant, uninformed, unthinking Americans" (or other such labels) just because my viewpoint differs from yours. The same applies to personal, spiritual beliefs. I happen to believe that Jesus is God incarnate, now residing, by means of the Holy Spirit, within humans who admit their need for Him ... but that doesn't mean I embrace every theological, behavioral, or hypocritical doctrine that you may ascribe to "Christians."
Bottom line? None of us belong in a box. I try not to put my expectations on others or afix premature labels on others for my convenience. Please try to return the favor. This is ME ... feeling my way through this life, mistakes and all! OK?
Thanks for your indulgence! ;)

My fellow Americans of all races, creeds and religions: America is at war with Terrorists that tell the world their religion is Islam and the school of Islam they follow represents the true interpretation of their prophet Mohammed. Indeed every modern terrorist attack is a 21st century tactical upgrade of Mohammed’s own tactics to spread his cult and to aggrandize power first for himself and later to the ruling elites that admired Mohammed’s techniques of conquest and enforced submission.
It has been said that a majority of Mohammedans denounce or disagree with Islamist Terrorist claims they represent the true religion of Islam/Mohammedanism. This majority of Mohammedans labeled moderate is said to account for 90% of the Mohammedan belief system.
The difficulties with that claim are that of the 90% only a fraction actively and vocally denounce the actions of Islamist Terrorists. In Europe and America (especially America), the majority of the funding of Mosques and Imam/Mullah or whatever the Mohammedan clerics are called receive funding from Saudi Arabia.
Hello! The dominant school of thought among Sunni Mohammedans in Saudi Arabia is Wahhabi. Wahhabi/Muslim Brotherhood is the vile ideology of terrorists like Usama bin Laden (mentioned for notoriety, there are many factions of terrorists).
Let me ask you: Who was responsible for the deaths of American citizens in the thousands on September 11, 2001? If you said Usama bin Laden and his al Qaeda transnational Islamist terrorist organization, at least you know why there is a War on Terror.
Now here is the thing. Local Mohammedan non-profit organizations primarily represented by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) receive their funding and teaching materials from either Islamist terrorists such the vile murderous group known as Hamas (Arabs calling themselves Palestinians) and/or Wahhabi Saudi Arabia.
It is politically correct to look the other way if a potential offense from a group of ideologues who claim to be a religion of peace is a finger of evil. This is obviously the case with terrorist supported and terrorist supporting CAIR.
If anyone who has become enlightened to understand the goals and the instrumentality to execute those goals and to perpetuate a community where freedom and liberty is non-existent (hence “Islamofascism”), then those fakir become a target for character assassination. The very intolerant racist bigoted hate of Islamists is deceptively implicated on the enlightened. The actuality is bigotry and racism is not the issue for that is what the Mohammedan has towards all non-Mohammedans; the issue is exposing the Mohammedan agenda as dangerous to American or Western Culture.
The dumb moonbat Lefties have fallen for the race card hook, line and sinker because their touching faith in civil rights as an absolute; even if the enemy uses those civil rights to perpetuate the destruction of a non-Mohammedan culture.
Michael Savage is currently experiencing this attack when the intolerant bigots of Mohammedanism have the audacity of calling Savage a hate-mongering racist bigot (I kind of pushed the envelope on that description). CAIR wants Savage out of Talk Radio and is actively contacting sponsors of his programming to drop him. If there are no sponsors then Savage’s employers cancel his Talk Radio program. If CAIR succeeds, they will have effectively convinced sponsors that CAIR links to Hamas is a non-issue thus preventing Free Speech efforts of exposing Mohammedanism from occurring.
Effectively local American Islamists that act as a Fifth Column will have silenced a critic relying on the current American mindset of being Politically Correct. Michael Savage is not the first to experience this; however the notoriety of his name among the extreme Right is like a prize kill in a safari.
Brave bloggers like Andrew Whitehead were threatened with extreme litigation to end their efforts to expose Islam and CAIR in particular as a threat to American society. Whitehead was the David having little original funding to fight CAIR – the Goliath – who has the funding of rich Islamists from Saudi Arabia and Hamas. In America David/Whitehead spanked CAIR/Goliath in the Courts for CAIR dropped the suit when they began to realize that in the course of a civil trial, CAIR’s true nature would become public. I am certain some of those things CAIR feared to be publicly revealed might have led to criminal charges.
In the case of Michael Savage you need to read the Cybercast News Service for the details on the CAIR attack on Savage’s livelihood with the racist/bigot card that Islamists nearly hold the monopoly on.
I have a habit of not always flushing the toilet if all I did was urinate. I do it on purpose to conserve water. My husband finds this a loathsome habit. This came up because yesterday the plumber got a peek at the unflushed toilet and when my husband told me I laughed and said,” he probably thought you were the one who didn’t flush.” And so we got into a humorous ( or some might think humorless) discussion about each other’s not so neat habits. Here are the most uncensored results:
Me: I clip my fingernails anywhere. I pick my nose and don’t always wash afterwards unless I am cooking. I don’t flush when I pee unless it is at someone else house. I put my feet on the table. I lick my fingers if they get food on them. When I clip Abi’s claws I don’t hunt and throw away the tips. My car usually has trash in it. I leave shoes all over the house. I will wear the same teeshort I slept in all the next day. I dont shave under my arms.
His: He reuses a kleenex after sneezing. He doesn’t always treat a toe fungus. His toothbrush often has bits of food in it. He leaves beard hairs in the sink. He dribbles pee on the floor in front of the toilet. He doesn’t believe in washing out his bathroom water cup. He uses the same bath towel for weeks. He never washes his combs. He has been known to eat spoiled food so as not to waste it. He never rinses the tub after use.
Good thing we love each other so because lesser humans might have killed each other by now.
Eagle’s Blog drives home an excellent point about patriotic slumber and an awakening from the slumber of radical Islam.

More Muslim Idea's on Freedom and/or Democracy
By the Eagle

In the 1940's America made a series of movies entitled, "Why We Fight", it told new soldiers and Americans, who did not understand, why we where fighting the Nazi's and Japan.
In my opinion, it is past time for them to do the same thing, NOW! I will attempt to spell it out for those who may not understand, by using the words of the people we are fighting.
The Entire Earth Must Be Subjected to Islam
"How can [he] possibly [accept humiliation and inferiority] when he knows that his nation was created to stand at the center of leadership, at the center of hegemony and rule, at the center of ability and sacrifice? How can [he] possibly [accept humiliation and inferiority] when he knows that the [divine] rule is that the entire earth MUST be subject to the religion of Allah - not to the East, not to the West - to no ideology and to NO PATH EXCEPT for the path of Allah?…"
"As long as this Muslim knows and believes in these facts, he will not - even for a single moment - stop striving to achieve it, EVEN IF IT COSTS HIM HIS SOUL... his time, his property, and his son, as it is said, 'Say [to the believers]: If your fathers and your sons and your brethren and your wives and your kinsfolk and the worth you have acquired and the trade, the dullness of which you apprehend, and the dwellings that you fancy are dearer to you than Allah and His Messenger, and striving in His cause, then wait until Allah issues His judgment. Allah guides not the disobedient people…'
Little bit of a contradiction there, who wants to lose their soul?? So what it appears he is telling Muslims is...you have to do this killing and general bad behavior, even if it causes you to go to Hell. Make sense to you?? I wonder how this guy would feel if we tried to do to them, what they want to do to us. Lets continue....
Part II: The Blow Against the U.S. Will Come from Where Least Expected
"…The [premises] on which we base ourselves as an organization, and on which we base our operations and our method of action, are practical and realistic… They are also scientific and [in accordance with] Islamic religious law, and they give us confidence and certainty… In writing them and in [publicly] revealing them, I do not intend to be apologetic for what was done; I lay [these arguments] before you so as to emphasize that we are continuing with our blows against the Americans and the Jews, and with attacking them, both people and installations [so as to stress] that what awaits the Americans will not, Allah willing, be less than what has already happened to them. America must prepare itself; it must go on maximum alert; … because, Allah willing, the blow will come from where they least expect it…"
Hey Americans...are you hearing this???
"America is the head of heresy in our modern world, and it leads an infidel democratic regime that is based upon separation of religion and state and on ruling the people by the people via legislating laws that contradict the way of Allah and permit what Allah has prohibited. This compels the other countries to act in accordance with the same laws in the same ways… and punishes any country [that rebels against these laws] by besieging it, and then by boycotting it. By so doing, [America] seeks to impose on the world a religion that is not Allah's…"
The part about us punishing other countries that don't follow our laws, is ridiculous, and not true, in case you had any doubt. Yes we want all people to be free, yes we call for sanctions on countries that brutalize their own citizens, or their neighbors. It has nothing to do with religion. But the people we fight are too blinded with hatred, to see the real world.
If you read nothing else, read the following:
We Have the Right to Kill 4 Million Americans
"We have not reached parity with them. We have the right to kill 4 million Americans - 2 million of them children - and to exile twice as many and wound and cripple hundreds of thousands. Furthermore, it is our right to fight them with chemical and biological weapons, so as to afflict them with the fatal maladies that have afflicted the Muslims because of the [Americans'] chemical and biological weapons."
(clanking on microphone) AMERICANS...ARE YOU LISTENING???
Part I: Why We Fight the U.S.
"…Perhaps the [Islamic] nation is waiting for one Al-Qa'ida man to come out and clear up the many questions that accompany any communiqué, message, or picture [concerning September 11], to know the truth, the motives, and the goals behind the conflict with the Hubal [one of the pre-Islamic Ka'ba idols - referring to the U.S.] of our generation…"
"Why is the world surprised?! Why were millions of people astounded by what happened to America on September 11? Did the world think that anything else would happen? That something less than this would happen?!"
Hey all you who think al qaeda didn't commit 9/11, did you read what this guy said??
The above was written by.... Al-Qa'ida spokesman Suleiman Abu Gheith, originally from Kuwait, recently posted a three-part article titled "In the Shadow of the Lances" on the website of the Center for Islamic Research and Studies
Alright kiddies, time to turn off the TV, put down the video game, get up and inform your neighbor, your friends, your family. Email this to those you know, who don't understand why we are fighting. Send it to your political leaders. Tell them...YELL at them to...WAKE UP, WAKE UP, WAKE UP!!! Your way of life is in danger!! Your LIFE is in danger!! Are you willing to lay down and let it happen??
Muslims, how is what these people are trying to do to us, any different than if we tried to do it to you?? Where are your voices?? You riot in the street over some stupid cartoon, and yet you remain silent over this?? Do you want to live like the Taliban??
America is the first to respond if there is a natural disaster, in your lands, such as the tsunami, earthquakes, etc. We give of our time and our money to help you when help is needed. And what do we get in return?? Silence...
Americans would NEVER, support anyone who tried to force their religion on you. For all our faults, most of our hearts are pure and giving. We have no greater desire than to live in peace, enjoy our family, play with our kids, go to church on Sunday. They same thing most people want in the world. So why are you silent?? (crickets chirping) HELLO?!?!?!?

Domestic partnerships are now permitted in Oregon making it one of a few completely gay friendly states in America I feel quite giddy with pride.
