Timbaland @ MindSay

The Times Union of Albany (New York) is reporting that 50 Cent, Timbaland, Wyclef Jean, and Mary J. Blige have been cited in a steroid investigation by Albany’s District Attorney. From the AP:

“Records shared with the Times Union and information from several cooperating witnesses on Long Island indicate the celebrities received prescribed human growth hormone or steroids. In some cases aliases were used for their delivery.”

Similar to pro sports, it’s not surprising to see celebrities getting caught up in the steroid game.  With videos continuing to get racier, they are under pressure to look better and keep up with the competition. 

Of the stars cited in the report, I have to say Timbaland is probably the one with the most visible changes.  I remember him as being a little bit pudgy, but at the VMAs this year, the dude was jacked up, as this photo comparison above illustrates.

My girls and I hit some of our favorite spots last night, even caught some live music at a club I haven't had the chance to visit in a while.  We had so much fun!  Reminded me that I need to take the opportunity to do things like that more often.  Responsibility sucks.  I've got a couple bucks for a ride in your time machine.  Interested?

At least two papers have to get written this weekend.  One on Billie Holiday, which shouldn't be too demanding if I would just do it.  Great voice, tragic life.  The other is a response/thought paper on David Abram's The Spell of the Sensuous.  Terrific book if you haven't read it.  Kind of long-winded, but what philosopher isn't?  He explores what he feels is the cause of our estrangement and exploitation of the earth.  In the meantime, I need to start considering the topic for my last (thank God) history analysis.  One week of classes and Final Exam week to go...

If you guys get a chance, you should really check out Timbaland's new album Shock Value.  Don't have a critique available, as I'm still working my way through it, but he's involved atypical artists on some tracks.  Favorite song so far (and I will fully admit, I haven't been able to bring myself to take it off 'repeat' yet): Time featuring She Wants Revenge.
