The Team @ MindSay
Chris Brady and Orrin Woodward, co-founders of Team, have invested several years studying and refining business principles in such areas as leadership, mentorship, process duplication, ethics, teamwork and goal setting. Chris and Orrin co-wrote Launching a Leadership Revolution to share business insights that they have learned and developed over the last decade while building a successful internet business.
Through their combined efforts in writing this book they have created a blue print for success. This book is a survival guide, a road map that has assisted thousands of business owners through out North America, Mexico and the Caribbean in the pursuit of their personal goals and dreams.
Time Warner has secured the rights to their book Launching a Leadership Revolution, which will be available in every major book store soon as their book is scheduled for release in September of 2007.
Chris Brady and Orrin Woodward were senior engineers in the automotive industry before connecting as business partners in an Internet commerce company. They have worked together for over a decade building a multi-million dollar business that has been recognized among the fastest growing in the industry for six straight years. They have spoken to audiences on four continents teaching business principles and success. Their first book, Leading a Consumer Rebellion, became a best-seller in its first year.
People, by nature, only care about themselves and their interests. Stop and listen to your co-workers at the coffee pot the next time you take a break at work. Chances are you will hear a self-promoter ranting and raving about their latest and greatest story. If you pay close attention you will find a few people pretending to listen, as they are only tentatively listening for the right opportunity in the conversation to steal the lime light to put them selves at the center of attention.
Sure not all people are this way; there are those who have learned the art of relationships / the art of selling. If you want to be successful with the marketing of your product or idea, or successful at making friends and gaining the respect of others, then you need to develop the ability to create meaningful relationships with the customer, client or friend that you are pursuing/engaged with.
Those clients, customers, co-workers, friends, relatives and associates are all alike: they care about themselves first and foremost. Not you. Not the great golf game you played last week. Not the team you coach. Not the new car you just bought. If you know people love talking about themselves, then shut up and show a genuine interest in what others have to say and you will make friends every where you go. People will be attracted to you like a mosquito in a nudist colony. They will be attracted to you for one simple reason. You care.
People are craving friendship, craving people who will take an interest in them. By taking the focus off of yourself and putting it on other people, you will in fact make more friends and the friends you make will in turn be more receptive to the things that you have to say. They will want to listen. The key thing is that you have to build trust with people first, you have to become their friend and gain their respect before they will listen to you. The easiest way to do this is, again, to simply shut up and listen. God gave you two ears and one mouth for a reason. This will enable you to develop a relationship with them and they will gain trust and respect for you because they will see that you truly care.
Without trust or respect no one will care what you have to say or what you have to offer. Your words will go in one ear and out the other and people will be holding their breath anxiously anticipating the moment that you leave the room. The next time you want to make a friend, sell your product or promote your idea, be sure to eliminate you from the equation. Once you do this you will master the art of relationship building and the art of selling.
