The Shield @ MindSay

Oooh... Busting crime one blunt at a time!!

Welp, it's Tuesday and you know what I'll be doing at 9 o'clock and at 10...watchin The Shield, son!  I hope they didn't kill off Claudette (CCH Pounder), that only leaves the gay Black dude (Julien) and that ain't right. What.  What I say?  Along the same lines, kind of, Ice Cube and some other obsure guy is producing a reality show called 'Black. White.'  It's a social experiment of sorts, where families trade races for a period of time and the camera follows them.  I see a jail-like anal rape in someone future, don't you?

Speakin of anal rape, "Wzup Mr. G & C!"  (Man, I'm gonna git it)...the last episode of the Boondocks I saw was pretty funny.  Funny how in the so-called safety of suburbia, a gun fight can insue and two crazy ass white dudes from the Iraq war can come away as heroes.  They even had a killer called the X Box killer!  Ree-dick-cue-luss!!

Time for me to feed my double chin, but I shall return to annoy & stalk you all....

Hay hay hay

It's Gwensday!!

It is also my mommy's birthday!  WOO!

Too bad she's not the partying type, or I'd drag her to the club for some goond-natured rump shakin'!!  LOL

I just realised that I left my Visual Basic disc in my truck, which is-altogether now-still at the transmission place (SCREW!)  SO, I have to beg someone for a ride there after work so I can do my homework...(GRAND).

My UNIX teacher still hasn't posted my grade yet, so I'm anxious.  I don't think I did well in this class at all...my teammates were having issues, I was busy with the wedding, the band, and the children kept getting sick, my tranny...it's been one helluvah short month.  I should have gotten on the short bus when I had the chance (darn!).

The Shield was hella excellent last night (*spoiler alert*).  It was so good I had to watch it twice.  They even reached as far back as last season to show Aceveda (Benito Martinez) on his knees with a gun pointed to his face!!  If you saw that episode, you know how scandalous that shit was!  Kavanaugh broke down Mackey's wife, so he's getting closer.  Vic (Chiklis) has to explain where $65,000 came from...yeah buddy.  I say they are going to try to whack Lt. Kavanaugh (Whittaker) or dig up some hellafied dirt on him to get them off his ass.  I can't wait!  Also, Claudine (CCH Pounder) passed out and fell down the stairs after getting a confession out of a serial killer.  I hope she doesn't get killed off the show just like that.  That would suck.

Well, it is back to work time.  Gotta pound the carpet and get signature for these grants.  They're not gonna submit themselves!  Also, I had a few job offers thrown my way, but more on that later.  The details aren't thick enough to spread.

Like peanut butter.

One.

Obligatory Year End List - TV
The top five TV shows of 2005 as decided by me:

1 - LOST

If ever a show was the case study for early cancellation it would have to be LOST. Think about, the show is damn near inpenetrable to new viewers, its a sci-fi/fantasy genre show, it stars no marketable names, it has a huge cast and a neverending supply of subplots yet somehow it became a phenomenon. And it shows no signs of slowing down with the addition of the castaways from the other side of the island and the revelation of whats in the hatch the possibilities are endless with this show. Now if only they'd kill Charlie I'd be a happy camper. Death to the Hobbit!!

2 - ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT

The best show you aren't watching. The funniest show on television. The best cancelled show of the last five years. Escaped con fathers, cousin love, drunken mothers, hands bitten off by seals, stair cars, "nevernudes", racially insensitive puppets, Saddam Hussein...this is comedy gold, people! This show is like heroin, take one taste and you are hooked for life. Quick witted, insanely hilarious...AD is everything that a comedy should be. Its unpredicatable and doesn't dumb itself down which of course is a recipe for cancellation in todays tv market. Hopefully the rumors about another network picking it up are true and I can get more of the Bluth family madness.

3 - VERONICA MARS

The closest thing to film noir your ever going to get on weekly television with a lead who sparkles whether she's doing comedy, drama romance. Plus this show features the best father/daughter relationship on tv and a cast of young actors who can actually act...there isn't a stiff in the bunch. And its season long "mystery" is written so tightly, with twists and turns that you rarely see coming.

4 - THE SHIELD

There are so many things to like about the SHIELD...its stretching of commercial televisions language and violence barriers, the riveting performance of Michael Chiklis as Vic Mackie (a guy who can shoot a fellow officer right between the eyes yet still make you root for him not to get his comeuppance), the slow boil performance by CCH Pounder as Det. Wimms, Glenn Close's wonderful season long guest stint as a good cop struggling to clean up a chaotic precinct. All of those things make the SHIELD truly compelling television.

5 - BATTLESTAR GALACTICA

Not your grandpa's Battlestar Galactica. Gone are the cheesy disco era cardboard characters (yay!) and instead BG gives viewers some of the most three-dimensional characters on any of the big networks shows. Remove the hot robot chicks and spaceships and what you are left with is one of the best dramas on television as well as the best sci-fi program being made today. Plus hot robot chicks.
