The Hills @ MindSay

Sleepiness
I think that the National Geographic channel needs to go ahead and put "Aftermath: Population Zero" on demand.  The show demonstrates how the earth would repair itself in the event that humans ceased to exist.  I don't know if it is based on the book "The World Without Us", but that is a book with the same exact premise.  I've wanted to read that book since coming across it in a store a few weeks ago.  The book has a website if you are interested.  Just type the name of the book .com and there you are.  Pretty interesting stuff to me, but if you are the type of person who watches The OC, or The Hills, or Flava Flav's show, it might not be insultingly stupid enough for you.

I saw the first hour of the show and passed out before I could see the second.  That isn't because the show was boring mind you, but because I pass out on the couch every night like a bird with a sheet over the cage.  As soon as I sit down, it is a downward spiral.  If I'm not working or chasing the boy, my eyelids start to involuntarily close.  I cannot describe a time in my life where I was perpetually this tired.  I am fairly sure that I have some sort of sleeping disorder, as evidenced by my frequent sleepwalking, but until now, have still found ways to compensate and not drag ass during the day.  Well those days are apparently gone, and I'm tired, so goodnight.

Remind me to post some of my sleeping exploits.

The Hills is Fake? Get Out!
The truth is slowly unraveling and could prove damaging to other reality shows.

Page Six reiterated today previous reports that "The Hills" is nothing more than a staged production that includes reenactments, scheduled run-ins, and orchestrated love interests.  The most recent report of fraud suggests that Lauren’s boy toy in Paris (episodes yet to be aired) was hand selected by the shows producers.  This allegation is nothing more than a bullet point added to the laundry list of previously noted editing mishaps caught by celebrity obsessed watchdogs.

The intense coverage and scrutiny of the show has even forced The Hills' main character to come clean.  In a recent Q&A session with Entertainment Weekly, Conrad admitted to doing re-shoots of incidences that occurred while the cameras weren’t rolling.  She said:

“I went home and called someone [Brody], and the next day talked about it. [MTV] was like, Okay, well, we need to get that on tape, and since they're trying to tell a story the right way, I basically had to go and call [Brody] again, have the exact same conversation on camera”.

Most watching reality shows know that they are fake – audiences simply don’t want to be reminded of it. Pointing out the fraud behind the show takes away the glamour of the characters and the excitement of the storylines.

If reality shows were anything close to our own reality, wouldn’t we all be disinterested?

Hi, I'm a Douchebag. Nice to meetcha!
I'm going to be blunt right now. Apparently I'm a douchebag. In the past year, I've been called a Douchebag more than I ever have in my life. So I'm just wondering why. Could it be that the word has just become more popular this year then it was last year? Have I really become what people think of when they think "Douchbag".Or am I a textbook definition of what a Douchebag really is.
It all started when my friend Stevie called me a Douchebag and then other people agreed saying "Yeah Stevie your right, Craig is a Douchebag." I really took interest into the dilemma while talking to my girlfriend. We were on the phone discussing people giving me a hard time and I asked her "Why do you think some people don't like me?" And in the sweetest little voice she replied "It's because your a Douchebag Sweety." WTF! My own girlfriend.
So I don't know what to believe, am I really this big Douchebag (Starting now in this blog I am going to say "d-bag" instead of Douchbag because I'm getting sick of typing it (seriously I've never had to type douchebag so many times in my life))? I walked the planet for 17 years thinking I was a pretty nice, well rounded, and overall pretty charming guy. BUT NOPE! Once I turned 18 I became a d-bag. When I used to think of a d-bag the people that came into my mind didn't look a thing like me. They looked like Spencer from the Hills (King of D-Bags in my opinion). But a side by side comparison would show that I am nothing like him. So what the hell?
Maybe it is because they have begun slipping the word "douche" into more and more TV shows. Last year the only place you would her the word Douche on TV was on Comedy Central (and maybe one of those wretched television for women networks). But recently it's been appearing in other shows. My new favorite show Chuck on NBC also had a cameo appearance by the word douche.
Whatever the reason is, I think I know what I'm going to do. Since there are only 29 days left in the year 2007, I think I'm going to be the biggest Douche I can possibly be. And then, come new years, I'll just promise not to be a douche in 2008. It's a pretty solid plan I guess.

The People in Your Neighborhood

Today was pretty okay. I know it sounds crazy, but I'm so glad I got to go back to school today. The weekend felt never ending, and I would have gone absolutely crazy if I had to stay home and wallow for another day. Not everything about today was great, but it's easier to handle...this...when I'm occupied and having to think and concentrate.

In theater today our class voted on the person who will be directing our class children's play The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe. I am pleased to announce that the canidate I voted for, none other than Allison shadylady McCormick will be directing! I'm very excited about this, I think she'll do a good job directing. I also auditioned today for the part of the White Witch. I wasn't originally going to audition for this part, but my dad pretty much got me convinced, and it could be fun to be the villian. I think I have a pretty good chance of getting the part, but if I don't I think I'll be okay with that too because there's just so many other things to do for the play. Our theater II class does the whole thing from tech to publicity to set to the actual acting. I can't wait to get started on it.

Then for 4th hour and lunch, I checked out along with Ryan, Jamie, and Roxanne and we got lunch at Golden China. I've been eating sooo much Chinese food lately, and I love it. It was so good today, and it was great to be out with my friends being rebellious. (There's no 'off campus' lunch at my school).

After lunch in history, I did end up getting kind of sad. I don't know why, but that class, or that time of day, or a mixture of the two...or something about that time always seems to get me down. I finished my work pretty quickly, so I had some sitting and thinking time, which isn't what I want or need at all right now. I was okay once I got to algebra though, that class sure as heck forces me to concentrate. We started quadratic equations today...ugh.

Then after school my dad and I went grocery shopping, which was fun. He started whistling "It's a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood" from Sesame Street (which I watched religiously as a small child) and then we started singing it together. The vereses go into the different people who live/work in your neighborhood and what they do, i.e. "Oh the policeman is a person in your neighborhood...". So we started making up people to be in the neighboorhood. Like the bag lady, and the graffiti taggers. It was over all a pretty fun shopping trip. Then we went to Pizza Inn for dinner. That's another story in itself, but that's enough from the Adventures of the Lanham Family for one night.

Anyway. I was getting all pumped about going to the premiere of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire this Friday, and then today I realized I have a Presby youth retreat to go to this weekend! *huffy breath* Now I'm mad because I of course want to go on this retreat, but I don't want to have to miss Harry Potter. *whines* Oh well, I guess HP will still be in theaters when I get back from the trip. Dad says we can probably go next Monday night. So I'll only be a few days late on seeing it. There is also something else very exciting that's coming up very soon. That's right, you guessed it, the John Mayer Trio album will be in my hands one week from today! Hooray!

I like having things to look forward to, it really keeps me going. Thanksgiving, tonsils out (bleh), and Xmas are also coming up soon. :) Holidays are also quite lovely. <3

It was cold today. It was clear and sunny, but there was this awful bone chilling north wind blowing. It's supposed to freeze tonight, but then be in the 60's or so tomorrow again. Carlsbad weather is freaking insane.

Last night, me & Lys watched the season finale of Laguna and the little part with the interveiw with LC afterwards and OMG...Laguna season 3 and The Hills staring LC?!?!?!!*** Alright that was for fellow Laguna fans only. Everyone else can look at me funny and walk away slowly now.

Alright, that's all.

-Court

Edit:// I said "alright" twice there at the end.  You know, in the last couple of sentances.  Anyway...I was reminded of something else that I have to look forward to, and that is duh, Eric dyingtolive is coming to C-bad to chill and whatnot 'round about the Holidays! Yay. :D
