Together We Will Live Forever
I am currently obsessed with the movie The Fountain. This is one of those movies that makes you think. It is rather slow-moving, at first, but in the end it is so beautiful and very thought-provoking.

It's basically a journey for one man, Tommy Creo, in three different eras: 17th century Spain, where he is a conquistador searching for the Tree of Life to save the Queen and country he loves; the present days, where he is researching a remedy for cancer to save his wife who is dying from cancer; and the future, where he is traveling with the Tree of Life to Xibalba, the Mayan underworld. The stories intertwine, and at the start it is hard to decipher what is going on. But after a while you understand, somewhat, and you think about the real message conveyed in this movie. The point is, there is no one message. There are many messages, and no wrong way to see it.

The first time I saw it was with my best friend, Kyle. Right after it came out on DVD, he bought it and we sat in his basement and watched it. I remember at the end, during the credits, there is a haunting song named "Together We Will Live Forever" playing while the words slowly appear and fade away, leaving stars in their wake. We sat there the whole time, and even when the menu came back up we didn't move. It's one of those types of movies, and I am in love with it.

The music in this movie is hauntingly and chillingly beautiful. Composed by Clint Mansell, it conveys every emotion felt by Tommy as he goes through life. This score alone has pushed him up to the top of my favorite modern composers list, along with John Williams.

This is a link to a guy named Lennon Aldort playing "Together We Will Live Forever" on the piano. Give this guy some love; he is very talented. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RiZ58E-Gu_E

Anyway, that is all for today. <3

The Fountain
Well, I saw The Fountain on Tuesday. I must say I was very excited for this movie. I liked Darren Aronofsky's previous two films Reqiuem for a Dream and Pi. I was not disappointed. The movie has been many years in the making and those years were not ill spent. I believe they did the casting great. The special effects were amazing. And the theme of accepting death is very well represented. If you can I would highly suggest seeing this movie.

I've also been watching Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire quite often, since its on TV all the time. I must say I like all the Harry Potter movies, but this one is my favorite. I haven't read the books, so I always don't know much of what to expect from the movies, but I like that the movies are becoming darker in tone. I am excited for the fifth Harry Potter to come out next year.
