Mom's Night Out

I am actually pretty excited about tonight.  After my long tiring weekend with friends over till late Sunday afternoon, I vegitated all day yesterday.  I didn't do shit!  I even took the fajitas I made Saturday and reheated the meat and veggies for last nights dinner!  I should have used that for tonights dinner but that is okay!  I busted out the patato soup I made a few weeks back and froze the left overs!

I need some help with two subjects for my next paper.  We are doing a compare and contrast paper.  I want subjects/topics that are orginal.  DeLaney suggested Dogs and Cats.  Coltin sugested marital arts (any two), Randy has made no suggestions.  My girl Teri suggested Paganism vs Christanity (to indepth of topics I think) and my girl Bree suggested long hair vs short hair.  The only thing I have come up with is  washing the dishes by hand or by dishwasher!

I want topics that that is orginal but not a lot of research.  I have to have all my homework done by Friday afternoon before I pick the kdis up from school. We are leaving for Sioux Falls for the weekend right after I pick them on Friday.  We are going to our Regional TKD tourny.  I can get the majority of my homework done today but I need my subjects for my next paper to do a compare/contrast chart for one of the assignments!  Please help!

Anyway I have an IEP meeting today at 2:30 with DeLaney's speech teacher, then we have to blaze to TKD, after TKD we blaze home,  I'll get the kids feed, Randy can get their homework and baths done and at 7, I'll blaze to the Pub.  Our pool league starts tonight.  Yay!  I have decieded I am treating myself with a few drinky drinks tonight!  I need them!  :D

I can't wait!  Tuesdays are definatally going to be my night!

Cuban Olympian Banned For Life

A Cuban taekwondo athlete and his coach were banned for life after Angel Matos kicked the referee in the face following his bronze-medal match disqualification.

Cuban coach Leudis Gonzalez offered no apology for Matos' actions during the men's over-80 kg (176 pounds) match.

Matos was winning 3-2, with 1:02 in the second round, when he fell to the mat after being hit by his opponent, Kazakhstan's Arman Chilmanov. He was sitting there, awaiting medical attention, when he was disqualified for taking too much injury time. Fighters get one minute, and Matos was disqualified when his time ran out.

Matos angrily questioned the call, pushed a judge, then pushed and kicked referee Chakir Chelbat of Sweden. Matos then spat on the floor and was escorted out.

Our First Tourny Went Well!

I won't say we did excellent at our first TKD tourny but we did really well for being one of the bigger Regional Tournies in our area!

Hell there were ppl all the way from FL that showed up outside of Omaha to the Tourny!  It doesn't suprise any of us that we had ppl down from MN, ND, SD, IA or even up from MO, KS, and AK.  But it did shock a lot of folks that we had folks from FL, CA, OR, GA, and a couple from CO!  Why the FL one shocked us over the West coasters and the GA folks, is because the person was a lil 7 year old 1st Degree Black Belt!  I even talked to his mom (sittin next to each other during the Adult and Tiny Tot's BB competitions before opening ceromonines!).  This lil boy's mom flys him all over the states for TKD tournies!  This weekend they were of course in NE, last weekend AJ (my assistant instructor) saw him in St. Paul, MN and the weekend before they were in NE again at a smaller state Trouny!  Must be nice to be 7 years old and being flown all over creation by parents with money!:P  I don't begrudge them doing that but I'll be dayumed I fly anywhere for a tourny unless my kids eventually make it to one of the big ones out in Las Vegas.  Even the World Championship ones we won't ever fly too!  That is only down in Little Rock!

Anyway, AJ is waiting on BB point standings to be released Monday morning to see if he made it to the World Champinship (Only those in Leadership Status can collect points and go on to World Championship or get any State Championship or REgional Champsionship).  Mr. G (his first tourny also) placed in the BB also with forms and got a Victory Medal (basically 4th place -they only place 1-3) on his weapons.

The kids and I weren't up till after opening ceromonies.  Which by the way was kick ass KEWL!  Master K not only owns the Bellevue NE school (outside of Omaha) but owns 3 other schools in NE also, so they of course always host regionals and he went out of his way this year because they got some High Ranking Masters to help judge this year.  A 1979 Triple Crown NE State Championship and World Champioinship Woman (can't remember her name) who is also on the ATA Board of Directors was there, along with the Current 7th to 9th degree Master who is currently the Triple Crown Holder for World Champioinships and one of the retired World Championship Head dudes that helped our Founding TKD Org and TKD Style Master Lee with some of the forms was there.  They were all there to help judge!  Not to mention a few other high ranking TKD folks who were helping to judge.  Then for opening ceromonies after all the chitter that irritates ppl, they had a Korean group come in and did a whole Korean Dragon show with 4 dragons.  It was AWESOME!

I managed to watch all of DeLaney's section and she did EXCELLENT for her first tourny!  A Victory Medal (again 4th place) for forms and a 1st placing in Weapons out of 5 girls.  She was the only ranking in her group.  All the rest were higher ranking and a total of 8 girls ages 8-10.  Sparring will come as we do more torunies.  I didn't get to watch Coltin's because my section was called up and gettin started at the same time Coltin's was.  So i relied on DeLaney to take pictures for me.  Coltin also did EXCELLENT!  He got a Victory Medal for 4th place in forms and got 3rd in Weapons out of 4 or 5 boys.  There were three other boys the same ranking as he was and a total of 15 boys ages 8-10 that he had to compete against.  Alas though Coltin wasn't able to spar.  The ignorance of a Mamma and not knowing that lil boys had to have a cup.  First who would have thought at that age group they require a cup.  They have really nothing there:D  So the judge (4th degree Dan) helped calm him down by letting him be the offical score keeper (usually reserved for BBs) and told him not to get mad at me cause us Mamma's don't always think of those things and just to have Daddy take him cup shopping before our next tourny!

There was about 10 of us women age grouped from 17-39 because there was only 3 girl for the 17-20 age group and the rest of us were the 30-39 age group.  So instead of putting those 3 women off by themselves they just lumped them with us.  Only two women did weapons (me and a higher ranking woman) and of course there was only 1 other woman at my rank and the rest of the women were either two ranks ahead of us or clear up to the rank below black belt.  I did pretty good if I must say so!  I got a Victory Medal (4th place) for forms, and the other Blue Belt Rank lady that didn't do weapons and the other Camo Rank (my rank) also got the Victory Medal, so in other words we tied for 4th place and since they only count 1-3 we didn't have to do what is called a Form off:P:D  The other blue rank and I were the only ones that did Weapons.  She got first and I got second.  I didn't get to watch her form beause I was running over to Coltin's matt but EVERYONE said I got jipped out of 1st because I may have had my chucks do something funky twice, she dropper her weapon twice.  The other Camo belt ranking goes to the same Academy as the Blue ranking women who took first and said she is either sleeping with the instructor or doing some massive kiss ass because they both started at teh same time and the Camo belt lady is right were she needs to be at and the other lady is two rankings higher then her now.  Plus the 2nd Dan judge (Dan is the degree of black belt) is one of their Academies sister school instructors and Camo woman and the other ladies think that is why the lady who got first in weapons got it.  I didn't see her weapons form and I dont' care.  I placed!:D  Again I did good in sparring didn't place but it was our first tourny and the judge even said once I get some things down I am going to be a force to be reckoned with because I don't just do kicks or just punches I do a lot of combos!

They were doing closing ceromonies by the time Coltin and I were done and getting changed and we were getting complements left and right on how well we all three did!  The Triple Crown Lady went up to DeLaney and told her she was really impressed with her form and gave her a few tips to clean it up before testing and our in school tourny.  Coltin's judge and the Men's Triple Crown Current Champion both told him he did great and the guy took Coltin up to another tourny matt and showed him what he could do to improve both his form and his weapons!  I had the head guy that was retired and on board of directors show me a couple of arm and hand positions to help my sparring and complement all three of us and said that he is hoping to see us at some more tournies and asked why we weren't leadership yet.  That he was watching all 3 of us all day long because he sat near us, and was really impressed with not only how well we did but how the kids and I were NOT shy and talked to EVERYONE and even helped out others in our postion of being first tourny.  And he asked Coltin's judge  if she would please find out why we weren't leadership.  Coltin's judge is testing at World Championship with our insturctor for their 5th Dan BB and when I explained that I had leadership i just haven't taken it yet cause my kids didn't make it to open try outs and now have a invit try out after our in school tourny, the Host Master popped in and told Coltin's Judge (guess she is going to be at our tourny helping) to tell our instructor to get us in Leadership ASAP so we can start earing points!

Over all we did REALLY good, and I am proud of my kids.  They went in to have fun and that is what they did!  Sure they placed in weapons but that wasn't the goal.  The goal was to get some experenice in and I delibreatly choose a BIG tourny to do it so they would get over the nervousness and here they both placed!  We all are on a Marital Arts high today!  It was late by the time we got out of Bellevue into Omaha and I decieded NOT to stop anywhere for food and we picked up Micky D's in IA before crossing BACK into NE on our way home, so we are going to the Olive Garden today for a celebration lunch!

I'll post pictures later (sorry none of me cause I was the only parent there to manage my two!) and wish us luck on preparing for our next rank testing this coming Saturday!

Frustrated and Getting Pissy with my Body!

I am so frustrated at this point in time.  Before I had my first knee surgery I was going to the gym almost daily, taekwondo 3 nights a week, playing outside, walking with and with out the dogs, and swimming.  The first knee got done and it literally takes about 3 months for the knee to fully heal from even lazor surgery.  I got clearnace to do taekwondo and full gym 2 months after.  Wonderful!

Not really.  The Holiday's started hitting and then right before the Winter Holiday's I had the second knee done.  I haven't put on weight but I also haven't lost any weight and I haven't lost any more inches.  Sure I have clearance to do taekwondo and hit some of the gym but I just can't get motiavated.  The two fitness programs I wanted to do are not open to me because I am white and non bago!  Aint' that some shit.  Let's see whites or basically non indians do the same thing for a community program and we would get labeled racist.  They do it they get applauded for doing somethign for their community!  Fucking hypicrets!

I am getting pist off is what this post is all about.  The things I WANT to do I am not able to do or it isn't the right season to be doing them.  I normally dont' say I hate a specific season becasue they all have their uses and are pretty in their own rights but I really disLIKE winter months.  I am a spring and summer person.

Anyway I promised a few ppl I would post updates on how it is going for me loosing weight and becoming a healthier person.  I have great ideas and plans but I loose motivation if I dont' get an occasional pat on the back or hey your looking even better then you are.  Randy has finally picked up on this so he is trying.  I'll give him that.  I have even tried getting my mother involved in either going to the gym or taekwondo with us.  I have noticed that I get my tendencies of not wanting to do anything from my parents!  My mom was a straight up softballer to the point she played slow pitch while preggie with me!  Once she got to the point where the parental units switched from softball to bowling and then their bowling partners moved away they stopped and have NEVER started anything back up!  The only up thing and positive thing about myparents are they are usually the first to point out that I am looking better, more active, and getting healthier.  Sometimes to the point that my dad gets down right cruel to my big sister and how big she is compared to me even when I weigh mroe then she does!

Okay now that I rambled some more, here is what I have been doing.  My cooking has stayed about the same.  Since we have started TKD (taekwondo from here on out), I have stocked the freezer with easy to make dinners and some weight watchers and lean cusine dinners.  You know the type that while I am busy putting thigns away as soon as we walk in the door and the kids are taking turns bathing, they can nook their own meals!:D  I admit my problem when it comes to diet (not the diet you loose weight but the food we eat) I am picky.  I perfer red meats.  Beef, buffalo, deer, elk, moose, and such are good with me.  But I have become cheap so I don't buy as much of the wild game from the butcher as I normally do when we are in the home area.  After red meats, give me rabbit and then chicken or pork.  Keep fish the fark away from me.  I only eat crustations:P:D

When I actually cook we bake, broil, steam, or grill.  Yes, I am one of these I will go out in the middle of below freezing temps and get the coals on my grill going!:D  Very rarely is anything ever fried.  This is the way I was taught to cook and this is the way I am suppose to cook for my diabetes.  I don't eat a lot of sugars normally so making the change to fake surgars wasn't that big of a deal in my coffee nor is an occasional candy treat like M & N's going to hurt me. Nor is my choice of booze drink going to hurt me. My biggest problem is salt.  My family has a history of having very low almost to the point it shows like we are veggitarians with our cholosterals.  That is why my doc is flipping on mine!  My cholosteral is a normal healthy average person's which makes it high for me according to the last cholosteral test I had done in my early 20s.  So the goal for eating wise this month is to add even MORE herbs (I cook with a LOT of herbs) and to switch from salt to fake salt.

Activety update is only taekwondo.  I have yet to make it to the gym.  I have been having a harder recovery time with this last knee surgery.  Don't get me wrong.  I am mobile and going about my busy days of beign bored on teh computer and doing housework and running the kids.  But I hurt when I get to mobile and my knee swells to the point I can NOT wear even sweat pants because it hurts so bad.  So I have been wondering around in below freezing temps in shorts and sweat shirts.  That wouldnt' be so bad in itself really but I am not a shoe person so add flip flops to that and my artho really gets to acting up like it does tonight!  My ankles, knees, and hips are killing me.  I think a storm is moving in.  MY GODS I SOUND LIKE MY DADDY!  I am a walking barometer!

The goal for this month is to slowly add my walking program back in and to slowly add my ball exersises in also.

Meditation front is actually doing really good.  As long as Randy isn't home.  I know I know I need to just kick everyone away from me to do this more but it is hard when your hubby isn't home that much!

That is about it for now.  Frustrated and pissy.  But I am alive and moving so that is all that matters right!

Going About My Day and Then...........

So, I was going about my day.  I had finally stopped procrastanting (sp?) and got off of chat, neopets, mindsay, and a few other sites and got busy.

I finally finished dejunking my room.  And while cleaning out my closet, I found one bat, one 12 inch softball and one 11 inch softball, my first catching pud, my last pair of highschool softball cleats, six batting gloves, one lefty mitt, and an equipment bag.  With a suprise!:O  I always wondered where that dayum box of condoms in my senior year had gone too!  Now I know!  At the bottom of my softball equipment bag!:D  Looks like my mom only took the main equipment bag of my softball gear and handed over to my diabetic counselor.  I put all the gear in the bag and it is sitting next to the mudporch door so I can hand it over to my mom's to give to my diabetic counselor.  Once I meet my goals, THEN I can have all my gear back!

I changed my bed sheets (the bi weekly changing!:D), rounded up Randy's and my dirty laundry, put away clothes and had just gone down stairs to start a load of laundry when I got the phone call from the school!

Secratary:  "Jackie?  Can you come up to the school?  DeLaney smashed her fingers into the class room door somehow!"

Me:  "Dayum!  Is she bleeding?  Can she bend her fingers at all?"

Secratary:  "No blood, but lots of swelling and discoloration.  Hold on let me see if she can bend her fingers.  It is on the first knuckles that got it.  She can bend all her first knuckles with out pain but her left ring finger."

Me:  "Dayumit all to hell!  Okay, let me get dressed, call the doc's office to see what they want to do and I will be up."

I got dressed (it was cleaning/lounge day so I took the kids in my jam jams and was still in them!), put a call into the doc's office, called my mom and asked if she could look at the finger before I decieded to drive to the city with DeLaney.  And got on the road.

Luckly by the time I got there, (they were icing the finger down) the swealing had gone way down and according to the Mission Secratary not the school Secratary, the discoloration had gone from angry deep purple down to a angry pink color.  She still couldn't bend that left ring finger though and she had a good size dent in the finger with a bit of dried blood but nothing major.  I signed her out of school and we headed down to the Tribal Clinic so Granny could take a look at her finger for me.

I didn't think it was broke but I wasn't taking any chances.  My mom agreed with me that she didn't think it was broke but suggested I take her up to the doctor anyway.  I again called the doctors office to let them know we were coming up, stopped back at the school and signed Coltin out.  (Randy is on the road, my mom didn't get off of work till 6 this evening, and yay not really an emerency so my dad wasn't going to go pick my boy up for me!)

We were right.  It isn't broke just badly brused.  Doctor didn't even order xrays but we are going to buddy wrap the left ring finger to her tall man finger for a week.  If her nail turns black or if she complains that she can't move it at all, then we are to take her back up to get the nail taken off and then get some xrays.  The doc did clean out the dent and put a small gauze wrap around that and suggested we keep that on for about 3 or 4 days so it doesn't get infected.

What a day.

I treated the kids to what Randy calls "Dog Food" aka McDonald's for an early supper.  When we got home, I dosed DeLaney up with some Motrin and made her ice down her fingers again.  Then we went about our afternoon/evening chores.

I did manage to get a few more loads of laundry done, fiddled with my sewing machine (it is acting up) and managed to get one panel of a set of bottom curtains done for my kitchen.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that we have no more incidents of injuries at school this year.  DeLaney is really worried about testing now for our next taekwondo rank.  We have a couple of finger tip punchies that we have in our form and have to demenstrate on the bags.  I told her not to worry if her fingers are still hurting when it comes time for testing we will let Mr. Johnson know that she can't punch with her left hand and he would understand.  He is allowing mommy to forgo the jump kicks and take steps instead so I dont' injure my knee.

She seemed okay with that.

Now I am off to procrstanate some more.
