Summer @ MindSay

I really hate.

Okay.

Is it just me, or do school administrators like to punish us for being smart?

I mean, really.

We're smart, we're getting good grades, We should be rewarded.

WRONG.

the answer we get to doing so well in school is more work.

Summer work.

The enemy of every student out there.

I understand that because we're smarter we can handle the workload and the heavy pressure and all, but, it is called SUMMER VACATION for a reason.

We shouldn't have to do more work, that takes up hours and hours of sunny days that we could have spent outside being the kids that we are.

Don't get me wrong, i like to get ahead and be successful and i know that in the long run this ap work is supposed to do me good.

Even if i did sign myself up for it, why?

why do ap teachers ruin our summers because they like to give hard work?

and then, on top of it, why do they give you the work, and say that it wasn't good enough?

like really, i work my ass off for you to tell me everything i put my blood, sweat, and tears into isn't good enough?

I think that the only reason teachers become teachers is to put down little kids and tell them they're not good enough.

I mean really, i don't think these teachers really want us to be great, they just say it to make us feel good and whatever.

I dont know.

I'm just thinking and writing.

I have nothing against teachers, but still, could they give us at least a little LESS work?

my summer is allready hectic enough with time with family, friends, going to the gym, trying to just relax.

I dont want to have to worry about getting all these extremely hard tasks done.

But hey, who am i to talk, i signed myself up for this suicide.

lmao.

Joys Of Summer

Last night, before bed, I was re-reading my copy of "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" by Lewis Carroll. If you've never read it, you absolutely should. It is a fun story, but one of the most delightful uses of the English language that I have ever read.

As I was finishing it, I got to the end where Alice is at court with the royalty of hearts. That scene contains one of my all-time favorite quotes, but this time, I was struck by another phrase. The last lines of the story are, "and how she would feel with all their simple sorrows, and find a pleasure in all their simple joys, remembering her own child-life, and the happy summer days. "

I have read those lines many times before, but this was the first time I really read the words, instead of just seeing them. And I thought how interesting it is that Lewis Carroll thought summer so important that he set his masterpiece during the time and made it important to the plot and moral of the story.

It got me thinking about my friend Kelly and a conversation we had a few weeks back. She was just finishing school for the summer and was so excited. She said she couldn't understand why people said they loved summer so much, when they had to work every day. I told her that I don't get summers off, but I still love it for the beautiful weather, the opportunity to be outdoors on my breaks, because my drive doesn't suck every day like in winter, and I don't have to take a jacket everywhere. It might sound silly, but that's what I like about summer.

As all of this was rolling 'round in my head, I was uploading new photos to my Flickr account when I noticed that I have several pictures of my friends' kids enjoying the summer in different ways. So I thought I would share them with you...the joys of summer.

This is Lewie driving a car at Como Zoo...his first ride EVER!

Lewie sharing a ride at Como with his big brother Clayton.

My little cousin Hadley enjoying the summer in her sunhat.

Hadley's big brother, Hunter, having the time of his life!

Sonya giving Dylan a ride on the 4-wheeler.

And my very favorite...Christian sun bathing in the yard. Could life be any better?

This is why I like summer, there is just so much fun and joy to be found.

Plus, it's baseball season...GO TWINS!

."Quiet, Hannah... Miley is listening..."
.On a hot summer night, would you offer your throat to the wolf with the red roses?

.
I might. I'll have to think about it.

Spontanious Sun. Cruise
So, on inspiration from the all music loving neonite , I decided to post a playlist of some of my top spontaneous Sunday road trip tunes. My friends n I went on one last weekend (though I think it was a Sat. :) ) and had a great time driving to uncharted small towns and eating lunch in a little mom n pop type diner. I took a bunch of music n made a fun CD.

Here are some of the tunes.

1. Ramsey Lewis and Earth Wind & Fire instrumental. I usually like to start my playlists with a instrumental n this one is my all time fave for a summer drive! Listen to this n see what I mean.
2. If you need a explanation for this, don't take a road trip...ever. :p
3. Oh c'monnn, like ya can't put this on!
4. This is the coolest all female Japanese pop/punk group! They're cover of this tune is a guaranteed smile maker!  It's the cute accent in their singing that does it for me.
5.Hells yeah! Ice Cube mutha fucka, This be the shizzle fo' rizzle.
6.Again, a perfect driving tune, no matter alone or with friends. 'I want to fly like an eagle, let my spirit carry me.'  Nuff  said.
7. Please refer back to song 2.
8. Gotta have a little hard alternative rock while driving down a wide open highway right? The bass line on this is soooo perfect for puttin' the pedal to the metal.
9. Luuuuv her! Why a great spontaneous drive tune? 'Your gonna find yourself somewhere, somehow'.
10. One of my fave summer tunes, and a great intro!

Got a fave road trip tune? let me know about it n I may just add it to my already long list! :)
