Stiff and sore for $5.85 an hour
So, work's been crazy. This week I worked Fri, Sat, & Sun, and I'm scheduled to work on Tues next week. Apparently last week Josh quit, Melody was fired, and Kim put in her two weeks notice. Bad for Subway but good for me (because now I'll hopefully be given hours!).
Anyway, major moron came in with his family on Friday night and tried to stay past 10pm (when we close). He came in at like, 9:55pm, ordered, THEN sat down and started eating. Seriously. So, I had to ask him to leave (explaining that we get in trouble when customers are in the lobby after hours) and he got all huffy and was like "Well you could've told me before I started eating," and "Well that's why I asked you when I was ordering" (Dumbass, I was in the back cleaning. I didn't even serve you...my sister did. Get your head out of your ass), etc. The second time he said "I'd have thought you'd have told me," was like so annoyed I was like "Well I would have thought you'd have read our hours that are listed on the door!" Moron. Seriously people, it's not that hard.
Saturday I got the weirdest guy when I came onto my shift. He got to talking about age and what not and wanted to know how old I was and how old I thought he was (apparently he's 22 *shrug*) etc. Anyway, when we got down to the register I was like "Do you need any cutlery?" (he'd gotten a wrap and it was uber messy). Cutlery? What's that? Knives, forks, etc. Oh, no I'm good. When you said 'cutlery' all I could think about was what I've got at home *Raises eyebrows and nods head...mmkay...*I collect swords. Oh cool, my brother collects guns. Swords are so much better than guns. Guns are too quick and easy. With swords you can disarm the person then torture them later. Oooh. Yeah. Okay, have a nice day.
Weeeeerrrrrriiiidooooooo. I'm sorry, are your sadist tendencies supposed to be an attraction for me or something? Also, collects swords my ass. I'm sure there's an actual term for swords that has nothing to do with the word "cutlery."

So, I actually intend to do something for my birthday this year (May 23rd). Yay! I've decided to round up some peeps and go to Cootie B.'s for dinner and then hopefully go see the 2nd Narnia movie with whoever wants to come along after dinner. Here's a list of people who've been invited:
Mama - yes
Laken - yes
Ariel - yes
Paula - yes
Wyatt (& Jesse) - yes
Greg (& Jeff) - yes
Donna & Perry - undecided.
Anyways, it should be pretty fun. I hope Donna and Perry can make it...they're tons of fun. Also, I'm uber glad that Wyatt's coming!
I've been trying to decide what to wear....I know I want to wear one of my dresses...I just can't decide between my red halter or my black one with flowers on it. They both look cool, damn it.

Other updates include:
*My allergies suck. I'm taking Benadryl (?) right now but it's not doing that much good. I'm going to try upping my dose to two pills at a time tomorrow, but that may not work. I have to be careful with it because it apparently affect(ed)s my grandmother and mom negatively and would make them really emotional and unstable. *shrug* Oh well.
*The comic strip is coming along slowly. I've only come up with one idea for one strip so far. I'm lame, I know.
*If you don't know her already, Ingrid Michaelson is friggin awesome. Laken, Mama, and I are going to try to get tickets to her show in SC this summer. I cannot wait!
*My stomach keeps hurting. And my back and legs are killing me right now (damn my intolerance for being on my feet for 8 hours straight, 3 days in a row!).
*Suzanna's driving everyone crazy. She's amazingly spoiled which has come as a shock to all of us. She's really selfish and she whines a lot. She's also insanely clingy. Which sucks...since she'll be living with us all summer long....oi. She's going to Nashville for a week on Wednesday, though, so we'll get a mini break from her at least.
*Iiiiiiii waaaaaaant sleeeeeeeep. Good night!

Damn Me and My Lack of Camera!
It's happened again.  I decide to leave my room for a while and actively say to myself, 'I won't need my camera, might as well leave it home', and once again, I want to shoot myself in the face.

Do you remember about a month ago I posted about riding the subway 2 stops and being surrounded by hundreds of people dressed up in Santa suits, chanting the word "ho!" a million times and just enjoying their own drunken foolery?  If you want to read about that, it's a few entries back - early December.  That day, I lacked both my camera AND my phone, so it exists only in my minid.  Today at least, I had my phone.

To rewind, several circumstances lead me to what happened.  First, I went into the 6 at Bleeker to go to Canal St to get bubble tea and then to walk to my FAVORITE BENCHES to knit a bit, but out of habit of taking the 6 to work 3 days a week, I got in on the uptown side.  Then I had to take the 4/5 from 14th down, and it's express so it took me a stop too far.  I was going to walk, but I saw a 6 train across the way, ran, and made it.  Got off at Canal, got my bubble tea and even though I was sad the woman who made it for me didn't remember me, I enjoyed my beverage as I walked to my benches.

However, it was freezing out, so I think I knitted a whole 3 rows, and they each took me about 10 minutes.  I gave up.  It was about 2:50.  I decided to walk back down to Brooklyn Bridge, ride the train home, and knit more while I waited for Jess to call because we're going to the concert (must finish this in the next 10 minutes!) tonight and meeting in Union Square.  So I walk down Lafayette towards the train station, and across the street, I see a LARGE gathering of people.  My first thought is, 'protest.  I wonder what they're fighting about', so I cross the street and go see what's up.

I ask the woman I'm standing near what the deal is, and instead of telling me it's pro/anti-abortion/Hilary/Obama/Bellybutton lint/insert cause here,  she says, "they're all gonna take off their pants and ride the subway".

You can't make that shit up.  That was what these hundreds of people were doing.  Apparently, it started like 7 years ago with this small group of guys, and now, it's no longer an underground thing.  It was so huge that they had to take THREE different subway lines.

I'm not the pants-dropping type myself, but I hung around, to see what was going on.  I thought I could at least ride back home with one set, preferrably the 6 people, and get a few good laughs out of it.  I ended up back and forth, and went to the group who was going to take the 2/3 train; they had to walk downtown, and then ride up to Times Square and transfer, and at each stop, a few people would remove their pants and then get back on the next train, a residual effect.

Anyway, if this isn't crazy enough, worth the hour I stood in the freezing cold waiting only to realize my dream of a picture of hundreds of pantsless people wouldn't come to fruition, I'm near the '5' group of 2/3, and I sort of hear this voice, and I see a body and Oh, it's my friend Josh from High School.  OF course.  This was right up Josh's alley.  But it was sooooooooooooo weird/amazing, because YESTERDAY I was working at school during lunch and talking to a group of 3rd graders about the Halloween my friend Josh dressed up like Alfalfa (they'd been talking about the little Rascals).  And there Josh was, getting ready to drop his pants.  He tried to convince me to join him, and if I had shaved my legs recently or had better underwear on (or had I been able to convince the kid with the suitcase to give me a pair of boxers....), I might have.  It is SO NOT ME, but come on.  I haven't seen Josh in FOUR YEARS.

The train ride was HILARIOUS.  I only stayed on until Christopher, my stop, and I waited for the next train full of ppl without pants, but I didn't get to see Josh (:().  Whatever.  Next year, I'm gonna try to find this again.  (Just realizing I SHOULD HAVE DROPPED TROW, because they wanted everyone who did to just act like it was a totally normal ride and oops, forgot pants, like read a magazine, the paper, a book etc, and I COULD HAVE JUST STOOD THERE, PANTSLESS AND KNITTING!!).

And now, time to see Jesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
and later tonight Jennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

Spring '08
So, here's what my spring semester's shaping up to be (if all goes according to planned, of course):

Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I have US History Since 1877 with Prof. Storie. This class, although not being taken along side any of my friends, should be okay in that the professor seems nice and (if all goes well) her TA will be Amy (Friend and former French classmate).
Mondays and Wednesdays I'll have Marriage and Family with my former Sociology professor, Betsie, from 1:40-3:00pm. Again, none of my friends are taking this class. However, I'm really looking forward to it because I love Betsie and her teaching style, the course material seems interesting to me, and I know I will learn a lot from her.

Tuesdays and Thursdays will be my art days. From 8:15-11:05am I will have Foundations in Painting (UGH! OI! NOOOO!) with Mira. I've heard all sorts of stuff about her as a prof. and I'm really kind of worried about the class. I'm no Monet/Van Gogh/Renoir/Marc/etc. when it comes to painting and I've heard that she'll tell you she loves your work then rip you apart during critique. So....oi. Keep your fingers crossed that don't tell her to go screw herself or something. lol Anyway, Paula from last semester's 3D & Drawing, Drew (also from Drawing), and Sis are all supposed to be in the class. So...hopefully it won't suck too much. Also, Josiah's going to try to get in (right now it's full), but it doesn't look very promising. :(
Directly after that class I'll have Lithography with Hilton from 11:15-2:05pm. This class it definitely looking better to me than painting (after all, the work focuses more on drawing skills). Sis, Paula, Jerome (cool guy; friend of sis), and [hopefully] Ariel will all be in this class. So, I'm kinda psyched about it. :)

As far as work goes, the plan is that Subway will have my soul on either Friday nights or Saturday mornings (I have yet to determine which) and I'll volunteer at Girls Inc. on Tues and Thurs.

In terms of preparation for the start of classes goes (week after next)...I still need to do a bunch of stuff which includes but is not limited to: Cleaning my room, coming up with ideas of projects in Lithography, finishing my sewing projects so I'll have some rad threads to sport during the semester, get into the habit of walking 30 mins a day [again], learn to wake up early [again]--no more 10am sleep ins, catch up on laundry, etc.

Oh hey, also, good news is that in terms of text books, I'm pretty much set! I need one for History...but I'm not sure that it's going to be required since the bookstore says it's not even in stock/available. So, yay! That means I won't be 100% broke after buying all the art supplies that I'll be needing (eek!).
