A Love Letter From a Star Wars Fan
Ever find something that seems too fantastic to possibly be true?  Maybe it's because I've never met someone that was really fanatical for Star Wars or Star Trek, but this seems to be just too much.  I'm going to vote in the "this isn't real" booth, but I still wanted to share because it's still pretty entertaining (and scary).  Enjoy.

People are Much More Creative When Working With Limited Technology
I know I'm beating a dead horse here, but I watched the Star Wars prequel trilogy recently.  My God, they're even worse than I remember.  They're full of nothing but lines and lines of shitty dialog and equally shitty character names.  Count DOOKU?  General GREVIOUS?  I'm surprised there wasn't a Darth ANGUISH or Stu Padassle thrown in there.

Now that computer technology has become advanced enough, "realistic" animation is possible.  So George Lucas went ahead and made three movies filled with endless unnecessary fluff.  The films look like the man spent more time on the background animatics than the script, plot, or character development combined.  Yes, Mr. Lucas, we know you have a digital effects studio, WE GET IT.

With the prime example of the Star Wars films, it's obvious to me that it is possible for technology to stifle a bad director into being a good one.  The original trilogy required tons of innovation, and that made the movies all the more enjoyable.  Special effects are like the icing on a cake, you can have too much.  It's like the old addage of guests being like dead fish: they stink after three days.  Light saber battles are cool, but start to stink after three minutes.

What I'd really like to see is a movie purposely done low-tech.  I think it'd be pretty damn cool if they dusted off all that old equipment they have lying around and actually made something creative again.

Clip of the day: The death of Porkins in Star Wars

"The perils of plotting a spaceship and eating a cheeseburger at the same time."

This is one of my favorite Youtube clips. The maker of the video did an outstanding job.

Security Level: Low (Public / Everybody)

The picture gallery includes pictures of me and Cynthia with her black wings, some musicians in the festival, and a Storm Trooper wearing a quilt. I also added a picture of some random medieval play.

But out of all those pictures, I'd like to highlight a picture of me and the Storm Trooper:

And he's a Clone War Veteran, too!

I'm going to drive to Sugar Land, TX for a bit, to get something to eat. I'm craving for some Phở (Vietnamese beef noodle soup).

Good relations with the wookiees, I have.
So, I may have been heartbroken, kicked to the streets, and crying for 48 hours straight (I'm a MAN! [swallows a knife to show seriousness of own manliness]), but none of that matters now because I'm about to have by far the greatest backpack concept ever thought of by anything that ever lived on this Earth during the existence of Time EVER.

...okay, so I guess I take back that part about being a MAN (rips out imaginary chest hair). I'm just a geek, and it feels good. ^_^
