Spanish Class @ MindSay
I'm taking Spanish courses and they suck. Not that I don't wanna learn Spanish, but my instructor doesn't know how to stay on one subject and then I get lost. I can say some sentences here and there but I must admit that I would not be able to spend a day in Mexico. Oh well, it'll get better and I'll catch on...eventually. I don't feel bad either because nobody else is getting it down either.
We didn't do any learning in classes, mainly just teachers all saying the same thing about rules and expectations. I got a little bit of homework but not much. Spanish was the most fun class because I was actually learning, we had to speak all Spanish and no English in the class. I think around 90% of the kids there have done Spanish in middle school, but I caught on okay. I know basic words and can string them together sort of to try to understand it. It worked pretty well.
My Algebra teacher...is SCARY. It's hard to type it out because you really have to hear him to belive it.
"In this class, you need a number of things. You need PENCILS, A NOTEBOOK, A CALCULATOR, AND A BINDER. Now these calculators can do a number of things!!! You can DOWNLOAD applications, do GRAPHING, AND EVEN DOWNLOAD APPLICATIONS. YOU CAN EVEN GET GAMES, AND SHARE THEM WITH YOUR FRIENDS. NOW, everyone in high school for some reason is OBSESSED WITH FOLDERS. I SUGGEST YOU USE BINDERS!! ITS EASIER, AND IT BECOMES LIKE A BOOK!!!"
He does this the entire time, screaming at the entire class for no perticular reason. Once or twice he put a kid on the spot, saying "Am I a nice guy?? AM I A NICE GUY???" The kid mumbles "yes" to which the math teacher says "Say 'YES SIR!'" "yes, sir.." "THERE! SEE? I'M A NICE GUY! I DON'T GIVE TESTS ON THURSDAYS!" or whatever he was talking about. It's a little hard to explain, you more have to hear him say it to understand. He's brutal though. I've heard horror stories aabout him from seniors at lansing.
But other than the math, it was really fun. I got 2 insanely heavy textbooks which I need to lug around all over the place, and I think I'm getting at least 2 more. It's hard to write about school when I haven't really done much, but I got the idea of what I'm going to be doing. I'll post more later in the week.
Roo walked down the hallway tonight, no hands. Clint and I stood and watched. Pretty amazing. She's a miniature toddler.
I will be teaching Spanish in 5 weeks instead of the phonics program literature enrichment class I was teaching. Well, actually, I'll have the same kids. I just won't have to teach them literature studies anymore. My principal wants me to teach them some basic Spanish. Ok. Fine with me. At least I have more than enough resources. So it won't take me as much planning time. More time for me to plan for teaching my ESL/Bilingual students. I actually like teaching the enrichment class with the regular ed kids. They're nice, they have such individual personalities. I really like second graders. I do, admittedly, get frustrated that the students who should be my main focus--my ESL/Bilingual students, get pushed back because I am required to teach other kids other things, or because we have so many tests to give or because there's some special assembly or activity, and no, don't pull them out today. I feel like I'm doing them a disservice. So I intend to use the Spanish I'll be teaching to help my kids. I will use any resources I can to invite them to share, to teach, to learn about their heritage. And maybe other kids learning their language will help them realize that Spanish isn't BAD and English isn't GOOD. Both are GOOD. And they should sale de la escuela with both.
Well, I have a partner in Spanish II it seems... This Puerto Rican girl came to my class yesterday, and chose to sit next to me... I'd think she'd be passing the class no matter what; until we got to talking... She doesn't know a bit of Spanish. So we agreed we'll struggle together and help eachother out (though she said I'll be doing most of the helping).
Marine Science! What a wonderful class to be in again! Even though it's content in the second semester is hard, baffling, confusing, wacky, and horribly a lot; I like the challenge to keep up and remember it all.
TV Productions I now have third period; and its full of those younger preppy idiots that don't care. Then Mr. Brancaccio had the idea of sitting me and assholio at a table with two geeky girls who probably like anime and trading cards. We'll anyway, I got to talking to assholio and we decided that we'd make womanizing content - content that shocks... well, he will... I'll just piece it together. Shock and Awe! This should be interesting. Our first task... a PSA.
The rest of the day yesterday was pretty much blah... Doctor's appointment today... to see how my immune system is doing now. Most likely it won't exist... ha!
I can't wait until the weekend... I'll be working!
You must have been relieved
to see the softer side.
I can understand how you'd be so confused
I don't envy you
I'm a little bit of everything, all rolled into one"
I almost cried 3 times today. Fuck, I'm a mess.
I can't seem to do anything right.
I bombed my homework, horribly.
Sister Peggy wouldn't answer my question, saying she already had 3 times. Then she called upon the class to answer it, since I "wouldn't listen" to her.
My pictures suck in Digital Photography.
Sister Peggy once again insinuated I was asking stupid questions and said it wasn't her problem. Figure it out yourself, she tells me. Then she assigned homework to the whole class because I "didn't understand."
I didn't know how to do the Physics thing.
I didn't finish the Odyssea. We have a test tomorrow, and I forgot my book. I was going to read it tonight. Fuck.
I took crap pictures for yearbook. In the process, I completely forgot about Student Council. Mrs. Tsutsui was pissed and I didn't have a good excuse.
Sorry, I was suffering from a mental breakdown. That doesn't work too well.
Spanish. I just feel like the retarded white girl that stumbled in.
Need to do my Calc project, write the report, write my physics, econ questions, calc homework, take 8 pictures *FUUUCK!* start my marketing project, "read" the odyssea, do a page of spanish. ON TOP OF THIS I need to prep for SAT 2s *Math 2, Lit* and work on my audition piece.
I think it's safe to say I'm a wee bit stressed.
