Silence.
The darkness of night envelops me. My face glows in the glaring light of the computer screen and I wonder, as I have so often before at the fickleness of fate, and the gods.
Soulmates.
The moment in time where you meet that one person in all the world that you were meant to find. What if...you are wrong? What if we have many soul mates?
What if, when we meet in another lifetime, our souls are now only a mere shell of what they used to be, as they have split and fractured?
When we pass on from this body, and until we ascend intot he next, does our soul remain intact? Or does it become peices of itself?
After all, if soul mates are two halves of the same whole, then how did they become separate to begin with? Once the initial mortal body passed on, did the soul split? When two soul mates find each other, do their souls rejoin, forming one single soul again?
If two soul mates fail to meet and join, so that they may be parted upon death..., once the mortal body passes on, do the two unattached souls then split irregardless, forming 4 souls? And if so, then would those souls be compatible, only with the other half it split from? Or would it also still be compatible with the 2 other souls that were part of it's initial soul mate? And, if so, how can we know if we truly FIND our soulmate, if we have more than one?
What if our soul mate is of the wrong sex? Are they still our soul mate? Or merely a kindred spirit, meant to be a friend for life? And are the gods of such a temperment that they would place two soul mates at opposite ends of the earth, with no hope of meeting, merely to keep those souls from joining?
Ahhh insomnia...isn't it a lovely thing?
